For some reason my chat bar is no longer working. Every time I attempt to type a message I get a long error message in the chat and can't see what I post or what others post
Sounds like a corrupted chat archive. That can be cleared by the game creator from the settings drop down on the launch page. I think the option is titled "Clear Chat Archive". This is not the same thing as the clear chat option available in game which only clears what you are currently seeing in chat.
