When I leveled up my Valor Bard from 9 to 10, I selected two spells for Magical Secrets, both of which are not on the Bard list (Counterspell and Cone of Cold). These spells did not appear on my Spells page after finishing the 'Mancer. I ended up having to drag them from the Compendium to my character, which worked just fine.
