Player Added Character Picture

The other night my friends and I were playing a new game, just a trial run to try out a new system (Apocalypse World, unusual, but a blast). I asked the GM to add a character sheet so that I could put a picture up to enhance the role-playing, I could not. It would be really awesome if the player given control of their personal character sheet could add a picture instead of the GM having to do it. It isn't a major issue or even a system altering addition. But it would save time, transfers, and an messy fixes that need to be done. I mean the GM has enough things going on. Please and thank you! =D

This is especially relevant considering a recent update on the dev server, so +1
+1 I have been requested this by a few of my players on multiple games.

Would love to see an admin or dev comment on this? It seems a simple enough feature to request. Players can add everything else in their Character sheet.
I actually have been able to add my own pictures to my character sheets as a player, just drag and drop, but it doesn't have the options listed like for a GM and that would be nice.

Terratani, I finally figured out how you were doing it. Yes, you can add your own pictures to the character sheets. You shouldn't be able to but you can. To do so just drag the image from your computer to the area where a GM would normally add them.  - Gauss
Huh... eenteresting.

Tommy, right now the GM can drag an image from the Art Library or his computer to a character sheet (while editing the character sheet). There is a box for this. Players are not supposed to be able to do that, but if they drop an image into the same exact spot the GM normally would it will still upload the image. This IS a bug, but enjoy it while it lasts. :) - Gauss
Why is it a bug? it's useful.
It is useful. I have enough to do as DM.
Terratani said: Why is it a bug? it's useful. Exactly, why is this a bug? Why don't you instead of removing a useful FEATURE, add a UI element and make it the norm. Otherwise, this is a bad mistake on your part, by the example of as you can so many people requesting it. How many games do you run as a GM? This is a pain to have to do this for every player, when they can do this themselves quite easily.

A bug is something that is not working as intended. Regardless of whether or not it is a 'happy bug' it is still a bug. Some 'happy bugs' could stick around. Heck, I am using one such 'happy bug' in my Munchkin game. I am quite content for it to not ever be fixed.  As for my statement of enjoy it while it lasts, I did not say what timeframe it would last for. That is not my choice, I am not a Dev.  My statement had nothing to do with it being useful. A useful bug is still a bug. :) It is also worth noting, this has not been reported to the bug report forum and since it is not impacting play I am not required to report it to the Devs as a bug that needs fixing. However, at some point it is reasonable to assume that it may get removed either intentionally (since it is in fact a bug) or unintentionally (since it is not 'documented'). I was being nice to let you know that you should not consider it a permanent feature. How many games do I run? Lets see, I have two Pathfinder games I GM on roll20 (one weekly, the other semi-weekly). I have another I play in (weekly). I have my Star Fleet Battles and munchkin games but those are infrequent and do not use this feature.  - Gauss
Well, either way .... I hope this goes from being a bug to being a feature. Thanks for checking on this thread.
+1 please make this bug a feature and add a button so it's easy for players to do this

I had an issue with this some time ago (the image I'd loaded as a player broke and- after working with Gauss and my DM- we fixed it by getting my DM to load it.) The explanation I got at the time (which makes a lot of sense) was this: the art for the campaign is stored in the DM's art library, and that's the library the campaign accesses, not the Player's. Why the bug works right now is a mystery, but it's unlikely they'll change it, for that reason. The explanation makes sense and the fix is simple: send the images/links/pics to the DM, let them pull them into their library, and then they post it. Yes, it is an extra step for the DM, but it's really not that big a deal (as a DM, I'm constantly pulling art, both from other places and from my players-- especially if I'm making them tokens, then I use the same image for their Journals-- no big deal.)
