preset token will only retain settings when pulled from side bar, but not the open character sheet itself.

when i pull the token from the TITLE of the character sheet in the side bar, it appears with all the presets i saved for it. However, if i have the character sheet OPEN and i pull the token from there, it has none of the presets i made for it.  i want to be able to run an appendix so i can archive most of my handouts and such. but thats not going to be possible if i cant pull the token directly from the character sheet its coming from. help???

That isn't going to work.  When you pull the "token" from the character sheet, what you're pulling is the Character Avatar.  That isn't the same as the default token.  You can only get the default token from dragging the journal entry out, not from dragging the character avatar.
That is unfortunate. i wish there was a way to pull the token directly from the sheet itself. or to link the preset token in my appendix or something.  oh well, at least i know now that its not possible, so i can stop driving myself crazy other it. i guess ill just archive everything except for the characters and npc/creatures etc

You can copy & paste tokens, if that helps? Provided you have a copy of each token somewhere on a token page, or outside the player part of the map, you can just paste them in as needed without having to scroll through your Journal looking for the matching character sheet. I'm a bit confused about how dragging them from the character sheet would help, too.... you'd still need to find the sheet in the Journal, then open it, then drag the token from the sheet wouldn't you?

I'm curious too, since I have seen a number of people attempt this work flow. What is the perceived advantage of pulling from the sheet rather than the journal tab?

My speculation is they are wanting to have a handout index with links to characters, then click the links to open the archived character and drag from there.
I want to Make an Appendix with hyperlinked character sheets. when you click a hyper link it opens it, it doesn't take you to the source.  If i was able to do this, i could link the same character to multiple different hyper links.  For example, I'm running a campaign in Magic the Gathering (across multiple planes). I wanted to make an appendix for planeswalkers by name, then also by what plane they are from, or in the case of Ravnica, which guild some of them might be in. or maybe i want an owl in a Beast Appendix, but also in the Azorius guild appendix since they are common familiars to Azorius Judges.     I'd be able to bury hyper links inside of each other and archive it all so i only ever need one main appendix open to access everything i need instead of scrolling though a side bar for it all.
As for tokens... you could have a tokens page.  Which would also serve as a sort of index since you can alt + double-click the token to open the character sheet.

Hmm, you could tag items in the journal so that it does not require scrolling.
i dont understand what you mean or how it would work
Patrick said: As for tokens... you could have a tokens page.  Which would also serve as a sort of index since you can alt + double-click the token to open the character sheet. yeah but i can only have so many pictures on at a time, i dont want to download all the photos of everything at once, i wanted to kind of just upload for the most part what i think i need in terms of that session. if i could have everything preset it would be simple enough to upload and link the tokens before each session if the hyperlinks were already created and organized.  but if i organized the tokens then i would have to do it every week and place them all in order etc etc and thats just... ugh. not what im looking for lol. but i appreciate the idea
i just wish there was a section of the character sheet that you could pull the pre-programed token from. there's not really another solution that will solve what i want so ill likely just hyperlink everything but the creature sheets.
