The bard stopped playing an hour ago. Sound carries far over the water, and you can never be sure how well what awaits you ashore will hear. It’s
just past midnight, the waning moon providing little illumination to aid your
journey. Your longship cuts through dense fog. Each wave that laps against the
ship’s prow agitates the bioluminescent barnacles and plankton clinging to the
hull, sending color and light spiraling down the length of your vessel. In
better times, awaiting merchants would witness this and know exotic goods would
soon be on display in the market. Now there’s no one to appreciate the show but you and your crew. With no lighthouse to guide you in, you strike unexpected
land, your ship's hull scraping loudly against gravel and stone. You strike your head
on one of your crewmen’s storage chests as the impact drives you to the floor.
Somewhere in the fog, there’s a shrill, unnatural scream. “Go!” The captain
yells. You and your party swiftly disembark, trudging over the stony beach in
the inky blackness of night. “ Hide!
Return when you have it. ” You
slip beneath an overturned husk of a rowboat and the crew shoves off, the ship moving safely back into the water with
little time to spare. You watch as a menagerie of cursed creatures plunge
themselves into the sea, screaming and thrashing for a chance at their next
meal. “And remember,” your captain calls after you. “This ship
sails in twenty-four hours whether you’re here or not!” About the Campaign Hi, everyone. I’m Joel. I’ve been a dungeon master—off and on—for over
15 years . Ever-hungry to try new things, I’d like to run a post-apocalyptic
fantasy campaign in Dungeons & Dragons 5 th Edition. This game
will have a narrow focus, following a small island nation striking back out
into the world after a lycanthropic curse destroyed most of civilization. It
will be a serious, story-driven campaign with grave themes, but with enough levity
and excitement to keep the game fun. Your party will be members of an order who are at the
forefront of reclaiming vital resources and reestablishing civilization. Each
of your characters will be woven into the world with personal histories and complex
relationships connecting you to important figures in your town or nation. Your
quests will be driven by the needs of your people, and each success or failure
will be felt in the world around you. This will be a dangerous world. You can fail. You can die.
Stories and the characters within them will develop based on who does and doesn’t
make it back on each foray you make into the fallen kingdoms of the old world. Vital Information Our standard weekly sessions will be held on Saturdays from
13:00 to 18:00 CET. Regular attendance will be required, as absences weaken
relationship-based storytelling. We will roll for ability scores. This campaign will
chronicle the last brave people of this world. Their bravery may be one of
their only exceptional traits, but that shouldn’t make their sacrifices worth
any less. This game will be a mix of story and adventure. Your characters
will be in near-constant danger, but always for a reason. The game is open to applicants of all experience levels. Great drama can be found at the intersection of a new player’s energy
and an old hand’s experience. Applicants must be at least eighteen years old. My
campaigns frequently brush up against adult themes, and we will handle them
like adults. Applicants must be from Europe or close by. A group
from similar time zones allows for maximum flexibility in scheduling, keeping
games and attendance regular. Applicants must have a decent computer and headset. Interacting
with others is a vital part of the game and large maps shouldn’t bring your
computer to its knees. Contact If you’ve read through all of this and you feel like this
game will be the right fit for you, please reply in the thread with some information
about yourself and your role-playing experience. I will contact you with my
Discord information.
