Why do I get HTML when I mouse over an inline roll?

Howdy folks, I'm a relative newb so I'm sorry if this is an incredibly basic question.  I did a little searching but couldn't find an answer quickly. If I do an inline roll, let's say [[1d20]], I'll get the output in the chat box the way it is supposed to look.  However, when I mouse over the result, I get what looks like HTML or other scripting language. I think the scripting is supposed to make this mouse-over look better.  Am I doing something wrong or do I need to change a setting?  This is in Chrome. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Do you have your chat popped out? I've had this issue for over 2 years with popped-out chat, it used to work just fine. Roll20 indicated that they were aware of the issue, but haven't corrected it in the past 2 years.
