Starfinder Trick Attack macro help

Hi, I am trying to make an Operative character for starfinder, but I am having trouble understanding how the system works, as I have never used macros before. Could anyone help explain it to me? I am currently trying to use this macro, which I found on the roll20 forums: Trick Attack: [[1d20+@{ skill _ranks}+@{ skill _class_skill}+@{ skill _ability}@{ skill _misc}+ bonus to trick attack check if applicable ]] [Trick Attack](~ Character Name |repeating_ability_$X_roll) <--- replace the X with the position of your trick attack ability (remember the numbering starts at 0, not 1)

I recommend checking out the official character sheet thread , specifically page 11 has some prime examples of Trick Attack macros. There are also many other helpful tips in the thread from the community to help your game run smoothly. For more information about macros in general you can check out the Roll20 Help Center . _ To answer your question more directly, the macro you posted is basically grabbing certain fields of the character sheet and plugging them into the formula. Fields are referenced by "@{field_name}". If you hover your cursor over the various fields on the character sheet, you can see the reference name for each field. Example: Hover your cursor over your Stealth score (the number), and you'll see "@{stealth}" appear near the cursor. So if you are using Stealth as your Trick Attack skill, you would put  Trick Attack: [[1d20+@{stealth }]] .  This will roll a d20 and add your Stealth score to the roll. Your example macro is actually more complicated than it needs to be because it's manually adding together each individual part of the skill score, which the sheet does automatically. Hopefully that's enough to get you started with macros. They're very powerful and very useful. Good luck, and happy Starfinding!
