My maps consistently disappear within a few days of creation.

After creating a mapped area I can see it for a few days but within a week it is GONE.  Some tokens remain, trees moved to the map layer or huts etc.  Dynamic lighting is still in place.  But the larger chunks of background map are GONE.  This is very consistent.  And aggravating.  If I wanted to just Skype a game I would be skyping.  WTF am I paying for if the maps can't be used?
Oh yeah, I fired off an email to Roll20 and that was like talking to a tree.  Except I have proof a tree is actually there.  No reply.

I have never heard of this happening. It must be very frustrating. Have you set anyone else as GM in the game? The most likely explanation for this is someone else is deleting them. Or, since you a pro user, maybe a script is doing something. What scripts do you have installed?

Where are you getting the art for your maps from? If it is from the 'web' section of the art tab then these are fickle at best and can disappear easily if the source is changed at all on the host website. I'd advise against using that section, or better yet; use it, select it, press z, right click and save as, then upload it to your roll20 library and use it from there. If none of the above applies, ignore me but you will still want to run through the tech help steps , specifically the console log.

Are you by chance cleaning out the images from your uploads library?
I have not used any scripts.  I am currently the only DM and have been for months.  My art is from Battle Mats.  It works fine if I play on them soon enough or if I drop them in during a game.   The Aaron  :  Yes i clean the images out of my library.  Is that what is causing this?  Do I need to keep all the images in library until they are no longer in use?  I am still confused as to why some disappear and some do not.  For instance, yesterday there was a swamp made from placing the same map down next to itself 3 times.  One of the maps was gone but not the others.  They had all been placed within 2 hours of the game.  The same set up placed a week earlier in anticipation of the game had all maps gone and only tokens remained on a blank background.

Yes, if you remove them from your uploads they get erased.  It isn't obvious immediately because they are in your browser's local cache.  It would be potentially possible for you to create a map, have all your players join, then delete the map from your uploads with no effect (immediately) on anyone.  Once the cache image expires, or someone logs in from a different computer/browser, or does a force refresh, the image would not be present in the cache anymore and would show up as a broken (or just visually missing) image. You should only remove images from your User Library if you are not using them anywhere. (And I realize that can be obnoxious to track town at times)
Thank you very much sir.  I delete things compulsively to clean up the space.  I will redo my maps and happily let the art folder fill up.  You have been a huge help.

No problem.  =D  There are ways to organize your User Library, which are easier to do as you go.  I've not done them, so I can't give you specific pointers, but it's good to know they're there.

The easiest way to organize your art library is to use Folder View. Click on any image in the Recent uploads folder (or any folder) and it will open that folder in its own palette. From there you can make multiple selections, tags, moves and deletions.
