Dice rolling random number generator is heavily skewed

We've been tearing our damn hair out in the games lately. Everything is either continuously ~1-5 (pre-modifiers) or weird short streaks of 15-19. I've been rolling on my phone's app and holding it up to my webcam because it's more consistently random (if that makes sense). What gives??

Nothing off on the tracker: https://app.roll20.net/home/quantum (Not that really bad luck is counted out.)

We all feel your pain! This thread goes into the topic at some length, worth a read.

Y'know, I've read that thread and understood it, but I don't really believe it. I've been rolling massive amounts of 1's and 2's today (including two 1's in a row) and, with the exception of last run, for the previous 3 runs, too. I never hit, never succeeded on a Skill check, failed every save, just critically failed a poison save, etc... This is NOT fun. I'm ready to give up on this game. My champion is a painful joke. :(

Believe it or not, that is the way the cookie crumbles (as the saying goes). There are a ridiculous amount of rolls happening per minute. You just happened to get the "winners". One test that someone (Zeichael maybe?) mentioned in a thread sometime was to have the dice roller roll a ton of dice divided by that number of dice to run a test. For instance, the average value on a d20 is 10.5. So if you roll 999d20 divided by 999, it should be close to 10.5. In the past, I have had runs of good and horrible luck with real dice. That is just how things go when you gamble (which is sort of what we are doing, though we hope the house doesn't always win).

Anybody who has the feeling that the dice must be skewed should watch the first Wil Wheaton episode of Critical Roll. There's a reason that they later kept his dice in a plastic bag and carried the bag with tongs. Some folks just sit on the wrong end of a probability curve. It passes.
