Hello! I'm Phil, I'm putting together a group for a long term 5e campaign. I need 2-3 more players of any experience level. I don't really like the idea of and "application" process to play D&D, but since the internet is large and I am but one DM I have to limit the number of players somehow. I'll try to ramble a bit about the kind of game I'd like to play and my general style as a DM. First off, it'll be a homebrew setting, and I'd like to have the worldbuilding be something that we engage in together. I have some general themes and ideas to start with, and I will aim to incorporate elements from player ideas, character backstories, etc. into the world as we play. Second, I personally believe that the mechanics of the game are there as tools for us to use to tell a story. I want to tell stories together, and also have fun tactical combat scenarios. So I ask that if you know you're not a story-based tabletop gamer, look for a different game. That doesn't mean everyone has to roleplay or write a 6 page long backstory. But have a backstory - think of who your character is, how they get their food on a day to day basis, who are their parents, do they have siblings, do they like their siblings? why? do they live in a city, a village, a farm? You don't have to be an experienced D&D player to think of stuff like that, but you do have to put some thought into what makes your character tick. Any questions about character creation, acceptable materials, etc. can be handled in PM/Discord, shoot me a line on here if you're interested.
