Switching to a different map/ copying over character tokens

Hello everyone. This is a bit obscure to me so I am not sure how I would search for this problem. When I move my players to a different map, what is the best way to get all the previous player tokens there without changes? My method so far is that I have written the characters in the handout/character section, where they are also linked to the individual players. The tokens in use had to be linked to the sheets manually when I set everything up and all is fine now. But when I switch to a different map, I select the tokens and copy/ paste them to the 2nd map. Sadly now they seem to be no longer linked to the character sheets and I have to do that again for each token. I know this is not a huge problem but it sure is annoying if I have to do this every time I switch to a new map. Am I missing a method here or is this just the way I have to do it?

Ah ok, I assume that last step juggled it up somehow. In the way that I didn't redefine the edited tokens on the sheets. Makes me wish it would do that on its own or just with a safe button. Thanks.
