We left our brave adventurers last week having defeated the three Giant Spiders in the clearing where Bardryn decided she would taste the local flora - which resulted in her becoming under their narcotic influence. Having then rested for a while, the five decided to continue on their way, despite Bardryn's altered state. Taking the lead, Leonithas safely traversed the road that wound through the surrounding hills for an hour, the high tree-lined peaks of the Glasshouse Mountains looming over them as they progressed. With the air getting colder the higher up they went, Leonithas gave the lead to Jett who headed the way along the road as it plateaued before them for another half hour, slowing down as the party came across a small village through which the road ran. The village appeared empty with the four houses along the roadside appearing derelict and overgrown with vines. Their interest piqued, the five stopped and discussed what they would do. Bardryn went to one of the houses to see if she could ascertain how long they had been there and from her investigation of the indentation the vines made on the stone bricks, she figured that the vines growing over the houses began cradling the buildings about four years prior. They decided that, as nothing seemed to be threatening or obviously alive and moving, they would search the houses and see what they could see. Jett and Tados went to one house while Bardyrn, Leonithas, and Naivara went to another. Their search of the houses gave them information that was confusing and concerning. In each of the houses they found symbols, carvings, and shrines of religious symbol that featured a lightning bolt with a rose in front of it. In some houses the symbols were small, while in another there were paintings as large as the wall of the house. In his search Jett, uncovered a journal in a writing desk of the owner through which there were general writings of the owner's day-to-day dealings but at the end was a large drawing of the religious symbol with the words 'Fire', 'Flame' and 'Burning' written in clear script around the symbol while at the bottom of the page in a much more rushed script was written "The Seer of Fire". Searching with Jett, Tados stumbled across the only body they found in the village, slumped against the wall in an out-room filled with paraphernalia for gardening. The body was in decay and appeared to have been doing so for at least four months. A study of the body revealed that there was no visible means of damage to the person that ended their life. However, Tados also discovered a number of bags of fertiliser and a shelf on which were a number of small bottles and vials of different coloured liquid. In the house they were searching, Naivara came across another writing desk, this time with a locked draw. Unable to open it, she called out to Bardryn to try. When Bardryn could not open it, Leonithas had a turn and was able to pry open the drawer revealing a love note of Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet proportions. With these two houses searched, they all converged on a third house. Entering and searching their way through it, they again found the religious symbol, though in this house, it was much more prominent and was the only house that held a shrine on a small table which still contained seven candles of various burnt degrees in a semi-circle, and a wooden carving of the religious symbol on the ground underneath it. Their search also revealed a library with scrolls in an unknown language and a book that Naivara quickly hid among her robes and would not elaborate to the others on at this point in time. Feeling adventurous, Jett decided to place the wooden symbol within the semi-circle created by the candles on the shrine and light the candles. Following the words around the symbol in the journal he found, Jett lighted the top candle, followed by the left and then the right candles believing that Fire would bring the Flame that causes the Burning. After a few seconds of nothing happening, he looked at the journal again and saw the phrase at the bottom. Looking at the symbol he whispered "The Seer of Fire". As nothing seemed to happen, Jett leaned forward to blow out the candles at which time he saw that the religious symbol had taken on a shimmer that could only be seen when looking straight down from the top. He tried to look at this shimmer, changing the focus of his eyes to see if anything could be discerned but nothing happened. Figuring that possibly a sorcerous person could determine what was happening, he asked Naivara to look at the symbol. Naivara stepped up to the symbol and looked down upon it, moving her head slightly this way and that as she stared into the symbol. Suddenly, the others saw a look of great concern come over her and she quickly blew the candles out and telling the other; "We need to leave here now." Putting the pieces together; an overgrown village, the only one body found being decomposed, the houses being lined with thick, undisturbed dust, and the unknown religious symbol, the others agreed and together they quickly left the village. As they continued their journey to Ensburn, they spoke of what they found and showed the scrolls among themselves hoping that someone could read them. None could; however, Leonithas did recognise some words, fragments of sentences, that were celestial and informed the others that he believed the writings were celestial of nature but a deviant he did not know. Jett also took the time to study the bottles and vials of liquid as best he could while on the move and determined that two were of a healing property, two were poisonous, and one had a curing property to it. Travelling the rest of the way unimpeded, the adventurers arrived at Ensburn about 7pm finding the village also empty, though not derelict. Heading to the only Inn they could see, they entered to find it deserted of people. Using her dwarven voice, Bardryn called out to see if anyone was present and soon after, a door behind the bar opened revealing an ageing woman of about 65years old, and of portly proportions with grey dishevelled hair. Informing the adventurers that everyone in the village ends the day early, she gives them a room; and some bread and cut meats to take with them before she heads back beyond the door and out of sight.
