Changing the token for an NPC

Hello. I would like the ability to change the token for an NPC, specifically to change the NPC to a dead body when it is killed. On another platform that I have been playing on, this is a very quick and easy thing to do. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do this here on Roll20. I currently have a free account, though, after evaluating whether I like this platform better or not, I may upgrade to a paid account. So, summing up: Free account; want to change a single NPC token image. Can it be done? If so, how? Thanks! P.S. I have seen this topic , which seems to suggest that it might be doable, just not with a free account, using macros or API coding. Is this the only option?
Howdy Snowy River, I can think of two (three sir) ways immediately. All doable with Free account 1) Hard way, but pretty, is to make the tokens multi-sided, like the dice are, or is done for lycanthropes a lot. This requires work with the setup when creating. This is using the Rollable Table under the collection tab https://roll20.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039178754-Collections#Collections-StartingaRollableTable 2) East Way, delete the NPC token from the map and drag on a generic dead body icon. 3) Third way, I use the red X status change to put an X through my dead monsters/NPCs and move them to the map layer to avoid interaction issues.Don't change the icon since the Red X and the fading from being on the map layer means cany change in actual icon would get missed. But probably worth it for major NPCs like bosses for the flavor vs the normal monster. Could even have a beat up bloody boss icon you could change to to indicate progress.
Thank you, Heath! The multi-sided tokens are perfect. I don't mind doing some extra work, especially as this is most important for generic NPCs like guards or zombies, or whathaveyou. Plus, I've discovered that this makes it really easy to add extras of the NPCs just with the push of a button! (Methods 2 and 3 I already figured out. It was that elusive method 1 that I wanted!) Again, thank you so much!
