The main draw I feel is the fact this is all set in a homebrew setting built over 16 years. I know this is a draw for some and a red flag for others. The world is detailed, has a large history and I run games at any period all over it. The whole point is to have something fun that you can engage with and enjoy exploring. I have a number of prepared games I can run in the system but the campaign I have had most success with is the Duty and Death campaign I have run before. This campaign is set in the First Empire so named because it was the first alliance of Kings and lords who overthrew their dwarven slavery, genocide the race and built grand cities on the ashes of the Dwarven horizon spanning cities. The Empire is held together by the prestigious government run Guilds… the most important of which (at least to them) is the Inquisition. They are the standing army and special police force of the Empire, bands of soldiers sent out to deal with all manner of Witches, Monsters and scheming nobles whom might bring harm to the Empire as a whole. The story will be following a Witch Hunter at the end of his prime, pursuing his last great quarry and the band of desperate men drafted into his service. The campaign is deadly, the Inquisitor spends the lives of men like he spends any other resource. Player characters will die and replacements will be taken from others in his retinue of around 3 dozen soldiers. I have seen all sorts of situations occur in this campaign, from players plotting the Inquisitors death, escape attempts from the service, several dead parties. But the story follows the band of men itself and the hunt, so switching characters is fine and multiple short intense character arcs are encouraged! Eventually the band of soldiers will dwindle down to a select experienced few… but whether the Inquisitor succeeds in his ultimate task is up to you!
