Ch. 34: A Maze-Like Structure is Explored under the strange Clear Ceiling

Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, so now, you guys are at the bottom of a steep sloping passage, that was filled with rubble that you had to clear out to get down to the opening of which you see a passage going east and one going south. The rubble just fills around the mouth of the entrance but then it's all clear   Maevis Silverleaf: So East or South?   Devin M.: East.   Dungeon Master (GM): and chris which way do you want to go? looks like we head east then   Maevis Silverleaf: East it is   Dungeon Master (GM): move a token so i see where you go the passage turns south and west.   Maevis Silverleaf: Any sounds or light?   Dungeon Master (GM): just from your light source. It reflects off the clear ceiling of which you see dirt and roots and bits of rubble above the passage curves again to the south and east. after going east a bit you see it turns north.   Chris M.: I'm in a shop in town trying to sell some stuff We have not met yet   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, and don't forget you can pick up any of the others tonight that doesn't have a player controlling it.   Chris M.: Ok I'll try Cassandra   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, now you see the north passage has two eastward going openings in it.   Maevis Silverleaf: See anything or hear anything?   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing to be heard and you see the lower east passage has an opening to the south. the other east passage looks to keep going straight beyond your light   Chris M.: Medic! (Cassandra)   Dungeon Master (GM): which passage do you go down first here?   Chris M.: I cannot seem to move my token   Maevis Silverleaf: east and south any sounds?   Chris M.: Can the DM move it?   Dungeon Master (GM): the lower east passage's far wall can be seen and there is the opening to the south.   Chris M.: I want to catch up w/ the vanguard   Dungeon Master (GM): which one chris? cassandra? everyone should be able to move all of the player tokens.   Chris M.: thanks Cassandra needs healing and rest   Xilicien: I'm also eating now, so I may be slow to respond + new hamster.   Dungeon Master (GM): yea she is down to 9 hit points i see   Chris M.: & all her spells are spent   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so which of these two passages will the party continue down?   Xilicien: Top.   Maevis Silverleaf: Sure   Dungeon Master (GM): ok then looks like it turns south up ahead   Maevis Silverleaf: See Hear anything?   Dungeon Master (GM): still nothing to be heard   Chris M.: aha! My boo boo   Dungeon Master (GM): or anything seen out of the ordinary so now the passage continues east or turns south where Maevis is.   Xilicien: East.   Maevis Silverleaf: East or South? ok east then   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you now see the end of the east passage which turns south up ahead.   Chris M.: o. it's jammed again. the problem is at my end. Cassarda wants to catch up w/ Maevis thanks   Maevis Silverleaf: South or South?   Xilicien: South?   Chris M.: Somebody heal me! (Cassandra)   Dungeon Master (GM): the near south or the one farther up?   Maevis Silverleaf: (We have to rest before we can heal maybe take a rest soon?)   Xilicien: Further, I guess   Chris M.: ahhhhh ... now maybe that would be a good idea, because Grax looks a little green at the gills   Maevis Silverleaf: May as well rest now heal up bound to have a fight sometime   Dungeon Master (GM): you can do that of course   Xilicien: Makes sense.   Dungeon Master (GM): it was 7:30 pm before you cleared the slopping passage to get down here, just say 2 hours to clear it and about 20 minutes after that right now so 10:50 pm   Maevis Silverleaf: good time to rest 8 hours set watches just in case   Dungeon Master (GM): see the handout?   Lord Tendlore The Human Paladin Says, "detect evil"   Maevis Silverleaf: Yes thats the last area he checked for traps   Dungeon Master (GM): where at or upon what object?   Lord Tendlore: toward the way we are going   Dungeon Master (GM): are you absolutely sure that Grax checked there? ok so like the wall at the end of the passage so no evil detected   Maevis Silverleaf: Yes I moved to the corner to the North and rolled a check for traps   Dungeon Master (GM): alright as grax begins to feel around in the opening, he is immediately... Snuff out of existance! he just disappears before your eyes!   Chris M.: O Sweet Mother!   Maevis Silverleaf: Maevis checks around to see if he was turned Invisible or if He’s Gone?   Chris M.: Great idea, my Lord   Dungeon Master (GM): Grax himself does not seem to be trying to get the party attention.   Xilicien: sweet mother, send your child unto me, for the sins of the unworthy must be baptised in blood and fear" -The Black Sacrament   Dungeon Master (GM): party's attention that is   Xilicien: Sorry.   Maevis Silverleaf: Hm? So Grax cant get any attention?   Chris M.: No. That's what Cassandra meant ... Maybe he was teleported? Or disintegrated ...   Dungeon Master (GM): It appears not Meavis so he may be physically removed from the area! yea it could be either of those Chris!   Lord Tendlore: hope he is teleported.. disintegrated would be bad very bad   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so now you have the end of the passage turning south or you could try the door back to the east   Chris M.: I don't have a Detect Grax Spell ...   Xilicien: I imagine we would have noticed ash/dust, if he were disintegrated.   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Alright Big question Do we join Grax? or do we leave him?"   Chris M.: Join!   Lord Tendlore: Lets stay as a group   Chris M.: & quick!   Dungeon Master (GM): and which way does the group go?   Maevis Silverleaf: Any dust where Grax was? and the rope Coal is holding... Goes limp! Cleanly cut off!   Chris M.: & let me guess, the rope is severed ... don't answer that ... I could see that coming   Xilicien: It's the soup scenario all over again...   Chris M.: meanwhile I'm being eaten by spiders ...   Maevis Silverleaf: Does the rest of the party join us?   Xilicien: I kinda want to live. So, I am at best hesitant to proceed.   Dungeon Master (GM): so nobody else will go north now?   Xilicien: I wonder if Balen would.   (To Maevis Silverleaf):  Just pick up another party member to continue   Devin M.: It's around that time for me.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Devin Thank you for playing tonight!   Chris M.: Bye Devin! I'm not on a map   Dungeon Master (GM): only the bard with what they have in thieves skills is left now yes I moved Zhora away since she's not with the party yet   Chris M.: Ok :)   Dungeon Master (GM): well which way guys, don't take an hour for something that takes a few seconds now!   Chris M.: I mean Cassandra's token is in the black north of the map I can see   Lord Tendlore: let just roll a die and pick a direction :)   Dungeon Master (GM): because Cass got Zapped! that's why you can do that yes   Maevis Silverleaf: Choice is Left South or Right South?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Lord Tendlore: left south   Dungeon Master (GM): so back at the door then what will you do at that door?   Balen the Human Troubador, strains his/her ears in an attempt to HEAR what he/she should not! The pedestal is 4 feet   Dungeon Master (GM): tall and 1 foot in diameter. Atop it sits a golden object, a 5-inch tall bust of a clean-shaven human with a hooked   Dungeon Master (GM): nose, bushy eyebrows, and short hair.   Maevis Silverleaf: (Its a trap)   Dungeon Master (GM): you also see another door on the wall opposite the way you come in.   Lord Tendlore: anything evil in the room   Maevis Silverleaf: Balen walks into the room   Dungeon Master (GM): ok nothing happens to him in doing so   Lord Tendlore: I will go into the next room   Dungeon Master (GM): which next room? there is only the octagonal room currently? and as which character? Tendlore got zapped he's not with the party   Lord Tendlore: oh oh   Balen the Human Troubador, strains his/her ears in an attempt to HEAR what he/she should not! Result Whispered to DM   (From Maevis Silverleaf):  HEAR NOISE Roll:  68 % Needs ≤  25 %   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing is to be heard by Balen

If we knew what was causing it we could avoid it what characters are still with us   Dungeon Master (GM): everyone in the room   Lord Tendlore: do we have a wizard   Maevis Silverleaf: Balen Leads silently praying to a Luck god hehe Xill is a Wizard   Dungeon Master (GM): the passage turns east at it's end.   Lord Tendlore: can xill detect magic   Maevis Silverleaf:   Dungeon Master (GM): yes he has one memorized   Maevis Silverleaf: Yes He has that spell   Lord Tendlore: would detect magic help in this situation   Dungeon Master (GM): only one way to find out really!   Lord Tendlore: detect magic   Maevis Silverleaf: It would tell us if there is magic in range   Lord Tendlore: I am trying to figure something out   Dungeon Master (GM): remember even though coal was holding the rope he wasn't zapped!   Maevis Silverleaf: Xili also has a Dispel Magic memorized   Lord Tendlore: have xil detect magic to see if something shows up dont you have to cast dispel magic on item   Dungeon Master (GM): I assume down the passage and the answer is nope, no magics detected   Lord Tendlore: that ended that theory   Maevis Silverleaf: It can be cast on an area also   Lord Tendlore: I was hoping something invisible was around us   Dungeon Master (GM): the spell will last Xilicien 14 minutes before it expires or he cancels it   Lord Tendlore: lets leave that running   Maevis Silverleaf: He will be concentrating on detecting magic so hes in the lead   Lord Tendlore: do we have any other arcane or cleric class type characters   Dungeon Master (GM): sheila is a cleric   Maevis Silverleaf: Sheila is a Cleric   Dungeon Master (GM): Phicenta is a warlock Rowan is like a paladin fenwe is a ranger   Lord Tendlore: I am going check spell list   Dungeon Master (GM): so is coal   Maevis Silverleaf: thought oal got zapped   Dungeon Master (GM): no he was hold the rope but it simply severed and drooped down in his hand. another words Tendlore didn't take Coal with him I have kind of clued you in on what you can do to at least detect of a zap zone is ahead!   Lord Tendlore: trying to figure if there are any spells that the npc might have that could help I most have missed the hint i must   Maevis Silverleaf: Sheila has Detect and Dispel Magic   Dungeon Master (GM): and detect trap   Lord Tendlore: cast detect trap   Dungeon Master (GM): ok checking on it's range and duration   Lord Tendlore: I am confusing mysef on characters   Dungeon Master (GM): find traps last for 30 minutes, 30 ft range and 10ft width   Lord Tendlore: that should work   Dungeon Master (GM): no trap detected so far as you cast it   Lord Tendlore: between detect magic and trap lets keep going   Maevis Silverleaf: yep   Dungeon Master (GM): you see the passage splits to the north and south up ahead   Sheila: south   Dungeon Master (GM): as sheila concentrates south the opening glows bright!   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we try a Dispel magic? Ok guys thank you all for playing tonight!   Maevis Silverleaf: Catch you next week then   Dungeon Master (GM): bye!   cromth: sorry about that I had to deal with the wife
O the evidence is very clear. I got Cassandra killed. I went into the Zap Zone worried about Grax.  The Party then spent minutes tying ropes on people. As a player, I laughed at their stupidity and cowardice. But they lived. I didn't
There are 2 brave men in that Party. When Zhora meets them, she will see them. Zhora is very brave
I think I role played Cassanda well. O my Eatrh Goddess!
When or if Zhora meets Maevis, she w/ obey his orders. Also Lord T
Maevis is the MAN
Ok. Are you ready to hear my advice. because this is the 3rd Time you self-justified.
Was the Man anyways! He got Zapped! as well! So I guess now you have a Jester leading the party! On that note I rotate the party leader / caller each week so since Meavis / roxxifarius pretty much lead last week this week would be Buddy or Cromth depending on who shows up. I am going to go Alphabetically by Nick this time instead of character name, it's less confusing that way.
Actually either Buddy, Chris M. then Cromth.
O fuck!  When Zhora comes in, she w/ not try to lead the Party, even tho they need it.  I am in another game w/ a lesser DM than you and my Cleric/3 w/ take control of the Party.
Meavis w/ the natural leader, imho
I did not lead him do his death. I called the Party to bravery. I am ok w/ that.
Sorry I missed the game. Mom got admitted to the hospital and I am on quarantine. So I was dealing with some stuff
