Warhammer Fantasy?

Has anyone actually tried to play WHF on this yet?
The battles?  I've seen some discussions, and I"ve toyed with it.  Can't wheel.  I think it makes more sense to use a single token, sized & resized as needed for each unit (no grid) until the ability to rotate groups (and wheel) is available. The RPG - it works great.  :)
yeah I'm messing with it for WHF battles. with use of re-sizing the grids to create a unit, I am able to make the models to scale. But yeah not being able to wheel them when grouped up like that kinda defeats the idea. I might just try making an infantry block to scale and have it as one token and attempt to keep track dead units via the attributes. WH40K would work just fine but I always liked fantasy better.  DEVS,  PLEASE LET ME WHEEL GROUPED UNITS :D  LOVE, ME
It is very possible: <a href="http://ernysplace.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/the-battle-of-plank-street-gms.html" rel="nofollow">http://ernysplace.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/the-battle-of-plank-street-gms.html</a> I've posted a request in the devs forum for wheeling and turning groups try writing a post asking for the same and we may get some action.
Here's the suggestiong about the matter: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2431/rotating-token-groups#post-81858" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2431/rotating-token-groups#post-81858</a> I would love to play WFB on Roll20 but atm not really possible.
I still think its possible, you just have to get a little bit creative and a whole lot of patiant.
Ahem YES it is possible, if you follow the link you can see we are doing it!!!
@Chris I understand, I wasn't trying to ignore you or anything just didn't have the time to read the link. So I think i read in another of your post that you just had the individual models in a group and other facings of the unit on a seperate sheet. so it came down to copy paste and delete? am I right? I like that because its cleaner and looks better than what i'm thinking. However I would prefer the easablity to just reface it to any position that is required as per the battle. I might experiment with both.
William, yes sorry if I sounded short, I signed up to the devs forum yo talk about this and was ignored, then also ignored here I was beginning to wonder if everyone had me on ignore. My solution is interim, I'd love for pivoting groups to become a feature.
I never meant that it's literally impossible. I just meant that it's too cumbersome. If I would use Roll20 as it is I would probably first create the units as normal on page 1. Then make a token of each unit and deploy these to page 2 which is the actual battle arena. Then when ever a unit changes formation for any reason I would go back to page 1 make a new unit for this new formation and create a new "unit-token" for it and place it on the right spot on page 2. This way the unit-tokens would be easily manoeuvred and they would still represent the unit (sizen, position, etc.) properly, still not perfect but properly.

Chris, I apologize if you have been ignored. The Devs have been busy with a number of things lately. Every post on the Mentor forum IS read by the Devs.&nbsp; - Gauss
I have to take back a bit of what I have said. I still haven't played a single match but we did some testing last evening and turns out it not too difficult to play WFB in Roll20. What we do is make generic units of all sizes and formations with full ranks on one page. These "unit" tokens are then named appropriately so the name tells what it actually is because everything looks the same, how big it actually is, what equipments it has etc. Eg We make a unit of infantry in the formation of 5*6 then name it Halbediers and add to the name un,sb,m if it has full command. Also the name has the information of the actual size eg 28 so the last rank is not actually full. If the number of ranks changes or if the formation changes then we place another unit to the same location, copy the name and remove the old unit. The red "bubble" is used for height, green for model to be added or removed and blue combat resolution. I hope you folks understood what I was trying to explain. I would hope to hear how other people are doing it. Chris G. apparently has "tokens arranged with different facings on a separate page to sub in when turns a n wheels happen". To Chris You seem to have the most experience of WFB in Roll20. Do you have any other pointers? Like how the make battlefields or how to keep track of things or how to make a proper flame/teardrop template?
I play 3rd edition so what I do may not be what you need to do. My table is made up of my own textures and renders of 3d model scenery, all from the top down. My tokens are photographs of my own 1980's citadel and marauder miniatures. Just to make it clear these are my own miniatures, photographed just for my own personal use. These miniatures are also from the top down. I have scaled the tokens and battle field to the smallest counter I use representing the 20mm base. I have tape measure tokens scaled so the inch markings match the scale of the miniatures. This means I can play exactly like on a table top. Small units are actually easy to pivot and wheel by hand. Larger by the method I detailed. To make area effect templates I'd scan in the required template and scale it to the tape measure. Again this should be for personal use only, permission in 3rd ed is given to copy for personal use. It may not be the same for later editions so would be worthwhile drawing your own, scanning and scaling. I've raised the turning groups on the dev forum and they hope to implement this feature probably not in the next update but the following one.
They're already talking about doing it?! Great! It's probably going to take me a few weeks minimum before my first match in Roll20 so from my point of view it might come pretty soon. Thanks for fighting the fight for us over there at devs' forum. 3rd edition! That's like ancient. To me 5th is old because I started playing at the end of 6th edition. Nice to know there are still some old geezers out there rocking the tables. I just lack the tools (eg photoshop) to make non-squarish tokens (flame template) so even if I scanned my plastic template it would do me any good.
keep fighting the good fight chris.
I use a program called Gimp. It's free and is essentially free ware photoshop. 3rd rocks by the way, 6th is ok.80's minis rule.
I too can vouch for GIMP. Combined with a few other free softwares you can get a complete graphics suite without paying even a single dime for it.
Ok thanks! I'll chech out GIMP and what I can do with it. Edit. It took me about 30 min to figure out how to make the templates so thank you Chris and Asaram for recommending GIMP.
