Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia. Far below, yet not beyond his keen eyesight, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms the barest hint of a smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they came — all according to his plan. A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited. Why Curse of Strahd? Because it’s one of the most highly rated modules on the market? Because you’re a fan of gothic horror? Because you like sandbox style games? There are so many reasons to try Curse of Strahd. I’ve run it before, and it’s a great module. It’s well put together with tons of great places to explore, and every playthrough is different. The only problem with this module is that it can do its job too well, and you can really feel the weight of Ravenloft upon you. So steel yourself, and we’ll try to find a way to bring a little light or mirth into the dark. About Me My name is Chris, but feel free to call me Rogue on Discord. I've been a DM for over 20 years. I started playing D&D with 2nd Edition, and I have been enjoying 5th Edition since it's release. I like a good mix of role play and combat. I enjoy doing voices, but I'm by no means a trained voice actor. Player agency is very important to me, and that includes choice. Even though we are using a module, if the group wants to make a hard right turn off module then I will run with it. I don't usually do paid games, but times are tough, and a bit of extra money would really help right now. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $9 per person for a four-hour session made through PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Why Pay for a DM? Finding a good DM can be quite challenging. Here's what I will provide: - Commitment. Not just from me, paid games tend to have more committed players as well. - Reliability. I will not miss a session unless there is an emergency, and I will make myself available to you as much as possible. - Knowledge of the module and the rules of 5E. - Experience - Acceptance. Everyone should feel welcome regardless of race, creed, or gender. - Fairness. - Roll20 Pro features - Music. - Preparation. Being compensated allows me to spend extra time making sure I'm as prepared as possible to run your game.
Character Creation You'll be creating a 2nd level character. Use the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10) or the point buy system for your ability scores. All official books are OK for use.
