The talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world. The cause is a necromantic artifact called the Soulmonger, which is located somewhere in Chult, a mysterious peninsula far to the south, ringed with mountains and choked with rainforests. Hello! My name is Dr. Acula ( also Eddie, DM or some close variation) I am 23 year old Bisexual male who uses he/him pronouns. I’ve been playing tabletop games and roleplaying games for as long as I can remember. I used to have a love for magic the gathering but that’s waned in the past few years and turned over to my love for DND. My favorite setting is the planescape setting and the game Planescape: Torment holds a special place in my heart. My second favorite setting is the forgotten realms as I love the adventure and exploration as well as the variety the setting can offer from area to area.  My main DM style is war gaming, and dungeon delving. I come from crunchy games so I really get into combat the most but that's not to say I don't like role play and world building. I often times include at least one combat per session so if you're that kind of RPG player this is the kind of game for you. I like to have role play be a nice mix of dice rolling and player input and NPC reaction. (you cant just roll to intimidate, you have to tell me how your intimidating them to roll as your method determine advantage/disadvantage and the DC). I also like to include back story NPCs so if you create a family member I can use that to enhance the story by incorporating that NPC into the game so the more you give me the more I can make you feel like a part of the world. What to expect from me as a DM: - Easy to use token macros that speed up combat and role play - status trackers to help you keep track of what all the conditions do - easy initiative roller - illustrated spell templates for each official 5e spell - A full compendium allowing for simplified and easy character creation - auto damage application for AOE spells (taking into account for saving throws) - A full slew of music to help add mood and ambiance to help illustrate the madness of the underdark - a fully prepared GM who's had hundreds of hours of experience DMing and playing on roll20 - Custom detailed maps as well as official WOTC maps - dynamic lighting and shadows - out of game consultation. if you have a question about the game outside of our playtime you can send me a message and I will do my best to answer or work with you at my earliest convince (ill most likely answer within moments because im a DND junkie and cannot pass up an opportunity to talk about this game) - consistent schedule, we will meet every week unless told otherwise, expect to see this game out through completion. I'm, here to make that happen for you all you have to do is how up three hours a week. - I will run the game at 3/5 player participation if less than 3/5 of the players show up i will cancel the game and not charge anyone for that week. -  character voices, (I'm no Matt Mercer but ill do some voices to help bring NPCs to life) expect awful imitations and accents - 3 hour long play sessions (plan ahead and be ready to take notes) Player expectations: I WILL NOT TOLERATE RACISM, HOMOPHOBIA OR RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE OF ANY KIND IN OUR GAMES.  In the event that you do need to miss a session please reach out to me in a message on discord  I may just ask you to pay your fee for the week you missed if you wish to stay in the game and you make it a habit of not telling me. - Session zero is free after that each session is 7.50$ due 24 hours after the end of the session via paypal or venmo - Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. -  (tentative September 8th date for session 0) - Players will be expected to engage and roleplay with other players - this is a team game so come with a team oriented mindset to each session - be aware of stepping on toes during RP (let each player have their moment to shine during the game) - pay attention during combat (no one wants to be the person who takes 30 mins to take one turn in combat, you can have other tabs open and be doing other light activities but just be mindful that you are playing a game with others and respectful of their commitment to the game) This campaign is expected to be played to completion and may take upwards of one year to complete. By joining, you acknowledge that you will be free during the time posted each week, and that you make your best effort to attend each session and communicate absences to the DM. Session Zero: will be character creation and a meet up. First we will introduce ourselves and go over our DND experience and what other things we do besides TTRPGS to get an idea of who we are playing games with, we are friends and should get to know one another as it makes the game more fun. We will also go over rules that we will be using. We will discuss what flanking, and other optional rules and how we want to generate stats, we all want to use and go over player/DM expectations as well as some role-playing guidelines so that when we get into the meat of the game there's no confusion of frustration around a ruling (I only want you to be frustrated at the dice). Lastly we will make our characters together. I would like the party to all have a cohesive reason to be traveling together, everyone should work together to figure out what makes the five to six of you a group and not just a forced party for the sake of the plot. Character Creation: -  bonus feat to start out level one! ( iff you pick variant human you get TWO feats to start total) - Any official material from wizards of the coast. If its in a book you can most likely use it with two exceptions: no races with a flying speed at level 1 (aaracokra and variant: tieflings) and no yuan-ti pure bloods (this is for balance reasons and for lore reasons) -  Backgrounds May be custom and include Two proficiency of any type and a related ability within reason, you must approve your background with me if you choose to make a custom one as it must fit the setting/s - you can use variant races (no races with flying speeds or any Yuan-ti or homebrew races) - All official feats are allowed - starting equipment is determined by class - No Home-brew races or classes (only on a case by cases basis, most unearthed arcana will be allowed (things that have passed the play testing period will not be allowed. also no mystics.)) Artificer is allowed as is Ebberon content and all Wildemount content (you may want to avoid monstrous races however, as it may severely affect the parties allies reactions tot the group) - anything not listed above will require approval by me first otherwise have fun and feel free to talk to the rest of the party about your PCs and link your backstories and your composition. -You may want to have a back up PC or two in mind this adventure is notorious for eating up character sheets like an otyugh eats trash  Communication: All in and out of game communication aside from dice rolls and RP chat will be held on a private discord server we will primarily be using voice for communication so a good headset is mandatory. To apply copy/paste and fill out the following (feel free to be as detailed or as brief as you like): - Name: - DND experience (if any)?: - Favorite DND Class?: - Favorite DND monster?: - Favorite DND spell?: - Any Question or concerns you have?: - What are you expecting from this adventure?: - Any character concepts you may have that you want to play for this adventure? (feel free to give a SHORT description bellow): I can't wait to delve into the depths of Chult together!
- Name: Justin - DND experience (if any)?: Few years of 3.5 and i've been playing 5e since it was just a playtest pdf. - Favorite DND Class?: Rogue! With so many options with archetypes, skills, and multiclassing; they feel useful in every situation. - Favorite DND monster?: Oozes. They're unique monsters that always have some gimmick that makes them a memorable encounter. - Favorite DND spell?: Tenser's Transformation, where the old man in an anime takes off shirt and hes ripped, it's just funny. - Any Question or concerns you have?: None - What are you expecting from this adventure?: I've never played the module, but I am hoping for an "age of discovery" jungle slog with a focus on exploration. - Any character concepts you may have that you want to play for this adventure? (feel free to give a SHORT description bellow): I'm down to play just about any class(besides single-class Fighter). A few character ideas off the top of my head: A swashbuckling privateer looking to plunder lost riches in the jungle. A cleric of the Flaming Fist stationed at Fort Beluarian to cure tropical illnesses. A tribal ranger who is frequently hired as a guide due to his knowledge of local fauna.
- Name: Nick - DND experience (if any)?: This will be my first game, however I have read the rules quite extensively and I have been watching tons of critical roll and the like so I feel like I have a decent grasp on how everything should work despite the lack of firsthand experience. - Favorite DND Class?:  That’s hard to say since I haven’t played any of them yet but in my mind I feel like it would the rogue or ranger. I always like stealth games and ranged combat. - Favorite DND monster?: Displacer Beast, mostly because it just looks so dang cool - Favorite DND spell?: Teleport, because I wish I could do that in real life so I could sleep just a little longer every day before heading into work instantly with my teleport ability   - Any Question or concerns you have?: Just one that I can think of which is my lack of proficiency with roll 20. I will have to go watch some YouTube videos and get a crash course on the roll 20 system. I have never used it but I’m good with computers and it shouldn’t be hard for me to pick up I wouldn’t think. Just wanted to throw that out there. - What are you expecting from this adventure?: To have fun, get more familiar with D&D and see the game from the players side of the table because I eventually want to become a DM myself for in person games once COVID is sorted out. - Any character concepts you may have that you want to play for this adventure? (feel free to give a SHORT description bellow): No crazy character concepts for me since I’m so new, i want to keep it simple for myself. I was just looking to play a barbarian, rogue, or ranger. I figured it would be easier not having to worry about a lot of spells and physical combat appeals to me more anyways. Rogues seem amazing jacks of all trades, rangers are always cool because I like the idea of ranged combat, and then being a barbarian and just rushing into combat and smashing someone’s skull in while bellowing a war cry always sounds nice as well.
- Name: Alex - DND experience (if any)?: been playing steadily for about a year, originally played years ago when i was younger - Favorite DND Class?: Sorcerer...wild mage is fun, or Monk...i know they aren't well liked, but i like the concept - Favorite DND monster?: Death Slaad, played as a villian for a best friend who DM's, and i like what they can do & they are smart! - Favorite DND spell?: Not a spell, but LOVE the Steel Defender of the Battle Smith Artificer. Have a campaign on hold from Rona, and I LOVE my Battle Smith background - Any Question or concerns you have?: None, just hoping to find a good group. - What are you expecting from this adventure?: Just to have a good time. Assuming the characters have to figure out the curse is caused my an object, my goal would be to figure out a way to end the curse - Any character concepts you may have that you want to play for this adventure? (feel free to give a SHORT description bellow): I would love to be an Alchemist Artificer in hopes of finding a chemical way to cure this curse. Would also enjoy being a Grave Domain Cleric or a Divine Sorcerer in order to figure out a magical cure
