[LFP] Grim Hollow/Rise of Tiamat

System: D&D 5 e  Modules: Rise of Tiamat, Grim Hollow Time: Thursday’s 2-7pm pdt Tone: HIGH Roleplay, Grim Dark Adventure Spots Available: 1/5 Requirements: Roll20 account, a working microphone, discord, previous d&d experience, 18+ age, must be open to a voice conducted interview, good alignment only (Be warned this game features variant mechanics that make combat slightly more dangerous. Details can be found in the Grim Hollow book. ) In the grim dark world of Etharis the gods are dead or missing and the land is ravaged by abominations, vampires and demonic beings. Worse is the zealous country of the Castinellan Provinces seeking to wipe out all magic from the land in the name of the celestial being they worship, Empyreus . The agents of the Lady of Fire, one of many lost gods, known only by the symbol of a five-headed dragon, entreat the party to help them. The whole world is slowly becoming the target of Empyreus zealots and it is becoming the concern of everyone.  Worse, if left unchecked the Castilnellans would use unspeakable magic to raise Empyreus into a god. The only god. To help is to fight dragons, demons, and politics. But this world is not so easy to wander or fix. Famine, death, and horrible curses are spreading across the land. Heroes don't always win, the 'right' thing to do is seldom clear and the concepts of good and evil are seldom black and white. Will the heroes win and help save the world, or will their victory end up as bleak and hollow as before?
This sounds very interesting. the Grim Hollow aspects especially really have my attention. the dark and gritty world sounds super fun to be a part of. Ive been a DM in 5e for 3 years now running official modules, as well as home-brew games. If you still have open positions id love to interview for a spot.
Hi there. I'm genuinely interested in the game, however I am completely unfamiliar with Grim Hollow and only just started perusing about it on the web after seeing this post. I think it's an interesting setting and I hope my lack of knowledge about the setting doesn't deter away from my chances of joining.    Regarding previous D&D experience, I've got a whopping 5 years under my belt on Roll20 and even more so IRL dating all the way back to the days of 3.5. Back then I was purely a player and became encapsulated by the whole 'anything can happen' aspect of the game. Nowadays I'm just a DM for a group of 4-5 players that play on Sundays, however I've been wanting to get back into the seat of a player hoping it could provide a fresh experience and some insight into how players think, act, etc in 5th edition.    As for the other prerequisites, I use a Blue Snowball microphone, Discord is what I use for DM'ing my own games, I'm 29 years old, I'm totally fine with an interview though I should note that I do have a wee bit of social anxiety when it comes to strangers (I can sometimes stutter, take a moment to respond, etc.), and as far as alignment goes, I primarily played paladins back in my 3.5 days so I'm 100% on board on being a good-aligned character.    I'm in the same time frame as the mentioned time period (California) and 2:00 PM is a quarter short of when my games typically start, so I'll be on time around 99% of the time, give or take 5 minutes taking unforeseen variables into consideration. I have but only two questions regarding the game though: 1. Does my severe lack of experience with Grim Hollow exclude me from the opportunity to join? 2. After seeing that the gods are either dead or missing in this campaign, how is it that classes such as clerics and paladins attain their abilities to cast spells and channel divinity? (The cleric's Divine Intervention class feature also seems relatively useless given the circumstances unless its like a "to whom it may concern" type of deal). And as a final note if I did end up joining and we began playing this Thursday (July 30th), I will not be able to make it due to pre-planned events. Every following Thursday, however, I would be able to.
Hello there! The modules seem pretty interesting from your description of them. I use a headset to game and stream with so I'd be using that most likely. Im quite familiar with discord, and in terms of Dnd experience, I've played a decent bit of 5e and played a decent bit of 3.5 in addition to pathfinder 1e. I'm 24 year old guy and I don't mind doing a voice interview. I don't have any problem with playing a good aligned character either, as I normally play good aligned characters anyway. I'm on the east coast so game would be a bit later for me, but it shouldn't be a problem. I'm open to playing almost any race or class or fill any role that needs to be filled for the party.
Hey there, if you still have a spot I wouldn't mind joining. I really wanted to try Grim Hollow, I've got almost 6 years of 5E experience and I'm 30 years old, so hope to hear from you.
I would love to give it a go.  If you have a spot available.  I am 29 and have played DnD since 2007.  I have a mic and webcam and would be open for an interview.  Hope to hear from you soon!
If there's still an opening I'm quite interested in joining your band of vic--adventurers. (-;  Most happy to engage in a vocal Discord-interview.
