Dont want to pop out the character sheet

ok... Macbook + Chrome Set that setting in settings on and off but it still pops any character sheet as an independent window.  Playing on a laptop I desperately want all character sheets to be tabs in chrome.  helpz???
If you have pop-out disabled, then it opens an internal roll20 window, not a browser window, containing the character sheet. You can double-click on the title bar to reduce the window to just the title bar, then double click to open it again.
thats right.  thanks! My issue is when I "maximize" the window - I want it to be a browser tab in Chrome and not a separate window.  Possible that this is a chrome issue and not a Roll20 issue?

Yeah, a browser tab really is a separate window as far as the browser interface is concerned. This is less a limitation of Roll20 than a limitation of running in a browser window.
Anyone have a recommended Mac and Roll20 friendly browser?

The supported browsers are Chrome and Firefox. I use a Mac (since 1986, in fact), and it works fine on either one. I do most stuff on Chrome, since I also occasionally use a Chromebook. Though when I am running, I favor Firefox, which I perceive to be just a touch more responsive. YMMV.

You will need an extension for what you're trying to achieve, as it's counter to the intended functionality of Roll20. Something like this , you might have to search around a bit and experiment. I have no personal experience with any extensions like this, it might melt your PC or it might do what you want. I don't think you'll find much help with this, as you're disabling a bunch of functionality and can't even see the canvas when viewing a character sheet - I doubt it's a popular workspace option. As Farling pointed out above, double-clicking a character sheet will minimise it and is the preferred option for single monitor setups, as you can still use drag & drop and see the canvas, and the chat bar.
thanks - forcing multiple browser windows is a drag when DM'ing from a laptop with no external monitor!

If you don't mind the loss of functionality that comes with a popped out sheet, One of the two supported browser natively allows you to merge windows into tabs while the other does it with extensions. I can't remember which is which, though.

Chrome allows you to pop out sheets and handouts into tabs. If you pop the sheet/handout out into its own window, right-click the title bar, click "Show as tab" then drag the tab back to the original browser window.

Ah, good to know. Almost always use Firefox, and this does not work with Roll20 popouts.

When this came up a few years ago, someone (it might even have been me) posted a Firefox extension to give that behavior.
Hold Ctrl when clicking the pop out button to get it into a tab rather then a window.
thank you! That does not work...
