Modules vs. Addons - again

I really want to know why so many stuff is created as a module that forces you to start a new game and then transmogrify every single bit to your existing campaign instead of making an addon right from the beginning. It's just a waste of resources, work, and time, nothing else.

Its a question of resources and scale, primarily. An addon has relatively few assets and will have minor impact on an existing game. Loading one module on top of another module would quickly lead to bloat and lag issues, followed by drains on support resources for folks who don't understand that everything in your game is loaded into memory when you launch.

I would completely agree with what keith said as I have made that exact mistake. Years ago when I was fairly new to Roll20, I overloaded a game and made it practically unplayable. I had to start a new game and keep things separated. I have since discovered it is best to just create a new game, turn on the "Character Vault" for the game, and have the players just transfer their characters over. It is fast, simple, and a great way to avoid unnecessary lag.
That makes sense, but since I regularly delete used maps, pictures, and handouts from my games due to the limited memory capacity it amounts to the same, I think. Anyway, thank you for the explanation.

I have been running a single game with content from 9 different adventure addons for 2.5 years. Rather than start new games and have to transfer the characters, their handouts, the scripts, and reattach everything correctly, I just delete the content from the addons as I no longer need it. If I want something that I deleted, I just spin up a game with the content and transmogrify it over.

The recently added ability to delete entire folders of content (finally) is a godsend to Addon management.

In the future we will transmogrify entire folder structures and have folders for maps!
