used character vault to import character and now it wont allow anyone to see the character sheet

I moved the character from one game to another and it shows up. I am able to select who to show in the journal and who to edit. But then it wont actually allow that person to even get to the character sheet or edit it.

That sounds like you set the "In Player's Journals" permission on the sheet, but not the "Can Be Edited By" permission.  The first one only allows the sheet to show as a listing in the journal and to view the Bio & Info tab.  The second allows access to the actual sheet.

I set both I actually figured out that I had to set the game setting to recognizer to use the 5e character sheet....so many different settings.

Where did you find that setting?? I'm having the same problem

in the game settings before you actually launch the game. it has an area to set what character sheet to use.
