In the world of Mythenheim stands the brave nation of Akarovia, an alliance of different factions who, with the aid of the Divines, stood victorious against the Great Demon Invasion roughly 300 years past. While the demon threat was subsided, internal politics are now at play, with the dwarves of Volgarad to the south seeking independence from the Akarovian throne. Meanwhile, orcish incursions from the west become more and more common, and northern travellers from the Thousand Peaks bring news of a dragon cult rising somewhere in the mountains. Do you have what it takes to seize your destiny, adventurer? Adventure Description The Stolen Relic - Level 1 One-shot Hardam Hills, a priest of Imalar from the village of Clearoak in southern Akarovia is hiring a group of adventurers to retrieve a Divine relic stolen by a local bandit gang: the Nightblades. However, not everything is as it seems... Will you be able to find the Nightblade hideout and complete your quest? This adventure is well suited to any party, of any size, including new players who need a hand learning the game. I am happy to help! When We will play from 19:00 to 22:30/23:00 CET/GMT+2 on Saturday the 19th of September. Game details - We will run “The Stolen Relic” one-shot. If you are joining for this session only, that is perfectly fine! I am running several of these one-shots in order to find good player-matches to build up a group for an upcoming campaign lasting several months, though, with main plots, personal quests, and other side adventures to explore. This campaign will also be pay-per-session. - We run the game in my own homebrew world called Mythenheim, a Tolkienesque high fantasy world with my silly twists here and there. - Sessions run from 3 to 4 hours, and start on time, so it’s a good idea to join 10 minutes before - Voice chat required (Discord), camera optional. Game takes place on Roll20. - You must be over 18 years old - If you would rather partake in a campaign lasting several sessions, then stick around! The purpose of running these one-shots is also to determine which players get along the best, and then take it to the next stage: a great, epic saga campaign! What you must do If you are interested in participating or have any questions, write a comment or send me a PM. I will get back to you ASAP. Remember the game will be held between 19:00 and 22:30/23:00 CET/GMT+2 on Saturday the 19th of September. Your character must be someone willing to retrieve this stolen relic (be it for monetary gain, justice, or perhaps a different reason), as well as willing to work together with other like-minded adventurers. My DMing style - I am considerate and love helping new/unexperienced people. Let me know if there’s something I can do for you! - I keep expanding on the homebrew world based on what you give me. Want to rally an army and fight dragons? Want to become an assassin for hire? Want to be a well-spoken diplomat making peace across nations? We will find a way to make it work. - I love homebrewing monsters, tactics, and items. Do not expect monsters to match their MM counterpart 100% - If you have any homebrew ideas, that’s great! But, I must approve of them first. - I’m not trying to kill you... I’m trying to help you! I have fun, when you have fun. But in my eyes a true victory comes with great challenge. Remember: I am rooting for you. - Death is a possibility for careless adventurers. - I enjoy a good balance between combat, exploration, and roleplay. I aim for at least a couple of combats per session. - I roll behind the screen. - You may roll privately or in Roll20. We run on the honor system! - I have experience running the game in-person and online from 1 to 5 players. I can make it work with any party of a size in that range, and am willing to eventually expand. - Jokes are fine, but are not to intrude in the whole mood of the game, which should be focused. - I am not rude, but if you are being noisy, I will ask you to please be quiet for the sake of the other players. - Leveling up happens by milestones, not experience gain. Homebrew Rules and Setting Conditions - Flanking grants a +2 bonus to hit, offering more tactical advantages since it may be combined with other potential bonuses. - Resurrection spells do not exist, as far as the average person knows. Myths and legends of resurrection exist, and it may even be possible to discover a way to bring someone back, but these spells are not accessible from the get go. I enjoy the higher tension that combat offers by playing this way, and it opens room for more interesting plots, which I prefer. - Players may award eachother Inspiration, which may be used as normal or to reroll a die. Players should do this when appropriate, such as after an epic/interesting/funny/clever moment. If this ability is abused, then it will be removed and only I may grant Inspiration. - Inspiration may be used to reroll certain rolls, such as attacks and ability checks. - Long Rests performed in dangerous/uncomfortable areas may be rejected or challenged with skill checks, at the GM’s discretion. It is always a good idea to take a breather back at the inn with your companions! - Gold, silver, and copper exist as valuable materials that may be traded, but not as currency. The currency used by most individuals is a strange green-ish blue coin called Denari, found in different values and shapes. - Abyssal and Infernal are different terms for the same language. - No PvP or stealing from the party, unless everyone agrees. - Avoid extreme topics. Romantic scenes fade to black, etc. - I have the final say during the game, but feedback is definitely welcome post-session! Payment This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of 10 USD per person to be done via paypal before the session. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Payment ensures quality service, and that we are all on the same page when it comes to having a great Dungeons and Dragons experience. About me I am 30 year old European with a background in tourism and customer service, and have also delved in writing and boardgame design. I love interacting with different cultures and speaking with people from all over the world. Fantasy has been an interest of mine ever since I can remember, with Fighting Fantasy books paving the way for much more! Finally, Matt Colville is one of my greatest inspirations when it comes to running the game! I love DMing, and believe that with help and input from one another, we can always improve. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. May all your rolls be natural 20s! Best regards, DM_AC
