Belle Venture), and August 25th, 8:45 am on day 27 on the isle. The adventurers are currently exploring an underground maze that
they are trapped in. They last left off after Balen had been struck by some
sort of death ray! Rolling an 8 while needing ≥ 11 on a saving throw vs death
magic, Balen tumbles to the ground after he rang the magical bell and a red
ruby falls into the golden chalice! Three minutes later… BOOOOM! … The red ruby
explodes into a fireball! After the blast, the rest of the party returns to the
Holographic Head room to see Balen smoldering a bit from the blast and the
chalice on the floor. Right away, Sheila, prays to Ra, healing back 4+8+8= 20
hit points to Balen, with three Cure Light Wounds spells. When Balen, regains consciousness, he says, “Word of caution,
don’t put the fireball gem into the chalice, that’s very bad.” Once again the party tries to figure out the correct combination
to complete the rest of the sequence to open the one hopefully untrapped door
in the room, like in the other holographic head rooms. Various combinations of showing the holographic head, the golden
bust, chalice and ringing the two bells are tried, including ringing the magic
bell four times to drop 4 rubies then run out, to avoid the 4 explosions. Balen, takes 3 gold coins from his coin pouch and drops them
into the chalice as the holographic head watches and once again winces in pain
and tumbles to the floor after rolling a 4 while needing ≥ 11 for a death magic save, so
again he drops to 0 hit points! The adventures again find a smoldering Balen laying on the floor
and this time Sheila just bandaged him up restoring 1 hit point after a
successful Healing check roll. Phicenta, suggested pouring water from a waterskin into the
chalice and does it him/herself, in front of the holographic head. The water in
the chalice then disappears! However, the holographic head’s eyes remain open!
[Reminder: The first part of the sequence was ringing a bell, which caused the
eyes to open.] When the Gold bust is shown to the head, the door finally opens
and slides down into the floor after being touched! Sheila, casts the Find Trap spell and the newly opened doorway
is clear so the adventurers proceed out the door and continue traversing the
maze. They go north 30 ft where off to the east a zap trap glows from
the Find Trap spell so, they turn west and go 70 ft, then turn north for 30 ft,
then west 10 ft, then south 30 ft, then west 10 ft, 30 ft to the north another
zap trap glows, so the party just turns south and goes 10 ft then turns east
for 20 ft, then south for 40 ft, then west for 40 ft then north 10 ft, then
west 10 ft into another octagonal room area. They walk around it to reveal two
more zap traps in two passages to the north and another trap in a passage to
the room’s south. A passage that goes west is clear to go down. They enter the octagonal room on it’s north east side and there
is another door on it’s south west side. This
octagonal room is empty except for a golden serving platter lying on the floor
in the center of the room. Three golden apples rest upon it. The platter is 1
foot wide and 2 feet long, crafted with golden handles on each end. The apples are
3 inches, 4 inches, and 5 inches in diameter. For now, thinking that it’s a trap, the adventurers, leave the
platter and apples where they are, and continue to explore the maze. So, they go west 30 ft, south 10 ft, east 20 ft, then south east
10 ft, then west 10 ft, then north west 10 ft, then west 10 ft, then 50 ft
north, then 30 ft east, then 10 ft north east to a passage the turns west or continues
north east. Continuing another 10 ft north east then north 20, then east 10,
then south 10 lead to the first north trapped passage off the octagonal room
with the platter and apples. So, they back track to the passage the goes west 40 ft but there
is a trap on the north side wall at it’s end so they go north in the passage
just beside it for 10 ft, turning east for 30 ft, then north 30 ft to where the
passage splits to the west or continues north for 10 more ft.
They go north right now, then turn east for 10 ft, then south
for 20 ft, then east for 10 ft, then north for 20 ft where there is a door,
which when opened revealed a zap trap, so they back track to the west passage.
