They last left off after Balen had been struck by some sort of death ray! Rolling an 8 while needing ≥ 11 on a saving throw vs death magic, Balen tumbles to the ground after he rang the magical bell and a red ruby falls into the golden chalice! Three minutes later… BOOOOM! … The red ruby explodes into a fireball!   After the blast, the rest of the party returns to the Holographic Head room to see Balen smoldering a bit from the blast and the chalice on the floor. Right away, Sheila, prays to Ra, healing back 4+8+8= 20 hit points to Balen, with three Cure Light Wounds spells.   When Balen, regains consciousness, he says, “Word of caution, don’t put the fireball gem into the chalice, that’s very bad.”   Once again the party tries to figure out the correct combination to complete the rest of the sequence to open the one hopefully untrapped door in the room, like in the other holographic head rooms.   Various combinations of showing the holographic head, the golden bust, chalice and ringing the two bells are tried, including ringing the magic bell four times to drop 4 rubies then run out, to avoid the 4 explosions.   Balen, takes 3 gold coins from his coin pouch and drops them into the chalice as the holographic head watches and once again winces in pain and tumbles to the floor after rolling a 4 while needing ≥ 11 for a death magic save, so again he drops to 0 hit points!   The adventures again find a smoldering Balen laying on the floor and this time Sheila just bandaged him up restoring 1 hit point after a successful Healing check roll.   Phicenta, suggested pouring water from a waterskin into the chalice and does it him/herself, in front of the holographic head. The water in the chalice then disappears! However, the holographic head’s eyes remain open! [Reminder: The first part of the sequence was ringing a bell, which caused the eyes to open.]   When the Gold bust is shown to the head, the door finally opens and slides down into the floor after being touched!   Sheila, casts the Find Trap spell and the newly opened doorway is clear so the adventurers proceed out the door and continue traversing the maze.   They go north 30 ft where off to the east a zap trap glows from the Find Trap spell so, they turn west and go 70 ft, then turn north for 30 ft, then west 10 ft, then south 30 ft, then west 10 ft, 30 ft to the north another zap trap glows, so the party just turns south and goes 10 ft then turns east for 20 ft, then south for 40 ft, then west for 40 ft then north 10 ft, then west 10 ft into another octagonal room area. They walk around it to reveal two more zap traps in two passages to the north and another trap in a passage to the room’s south. A passage that goes west is clear to go down.   They enter the octagonal room on it’s north east side and there is another door on it’s south west side.   This octagonal room is empty except for a golden serving platter lying on the floor in the center of the room. Three golden apples rest upon it. The platter is 1 foot wide and 2 feet long, crafted with golden handles on each end. The apples are 3 inches, 4 inches, and 5 inches in diameter.   For now, thinking that it’s a trap, the adventurers, leave the platter and apples where they are, and continue to explore the maze.   So, they go west 30 ft, south 10 ft, east 20 ft, then south east 10 ft, then west 10 ft, then north west 10 ft, then west 10 ft, then 50 ft north, then 30 ft east, then 10 ft north east to a passage the turns west or continues north east.   Continuing another 10 ft north east then north 20, then east 10, then south 10 lead to the first north trapped passage off the octagonal room with the platter and apples.   So, they back track to the passage the goes west 40 ft but there is a trap on the north side wall at it’s end so they go north in the passage just beside it for 10 ft, turning east for 30 ft, then north 30 ft to where the passage splits to the west or continues north for 10 more ft.   They go north right now, then turn east for 10 ft, then south for 20 ft, then east for 10 ft, then north for 20 ft where there is a door, which when opened revealed a zap trap, so they back track to the west passage.

Going west for 10 ft then turning north for 10 ft and the passage splits to the east for 10 ft to a new door, which is trapped, Phicenta tries a Dispel Magic spell upon the trap but it does not work! So thus, it is likely not magical or the trap was made by a more powerful wizard.   So they go west another 20 ft after the split and then north 10 ft, then east 20 ft, then north 20 ft where a trap glows from the spell, directly north, so they turn east, going another 20 ft, then south 10 ft, then west 10 ft, then south 10 ft to another door.                    When opened the door is not blocked by a trap so they proceed inside into a new holographic head room. Once again it is the 6 ft tall head of the fellow with the hooked nose, bushy eyebrows and short hair.   The head faces the north door of the west wall with it’s eyes currently open.   The door in the north wall is trapped, and the north east door is trapped. The south east door won’t open. The south door is trapped and the south west door is trapped. The north west door is the one the party first entered the room in.   This prompts the adventures to go and retrieve the golden platter with the 3 apples from the octagonal room. First, Sheila cast a Detect Magic spell upon them and the platter and apples glow with magical auras. The magics appear to be enchantments in nature with the two smaller apples also showing an indication of evocation magics.   They return to the new holographic head room with the platter and apples and begin to try the sequence needed to open. The first thing Balen tries is to simply show the platter with the 3 apples to the holographic head, and the apples disappear and after the locked door is touched it finally opens now!   The party rests for 2 days (6 days in the maze now), to heal up and rememorize or pray for spells, Balen is fully healed up by Sheila’s Cure Light Wounds spells cast upon him during both days.   Sheila cast the Find Trap spell and the party proceeds out the opened door. They go south 20 ft, then west 10 ft, then east 10 ft, then come to a split in a passage that goes north and south.   They try south first, going 40 ft south, then 10 ft south east, then 20 ft east, then 20 ft south, then 20 ft north, then 10 ft west, then 10 ft north west, then 40 ft north, then 30 ft south, to where the passage glows with a trap from Sheila’s spell, the gold platter octagonal room visible beyond it.   So, now they back track to go north this time, going 40 ft north, 20 ft east, 10 ft south, 10 ft west, 20 ft south, 10 ft east, 10 ft north, 10 ft east, 10 ft south, to a split in a passage that goes 30 ft south or 10 ft north.   They go north then 20 east when they see the base of the Obelisk now and then continue to explore, pretty much circling around what appears to be four rooms with two doors each to the north west, north east, south east and south west of the obelisk.   The north and east interior walls of this room are covered with levers, dials, buttons, and other technological devices. Two plush chairs sit before them, one for each wall. One large toggle switch is located on the north wall in the down position and another on the east wall in the up position.   There are also 2 smaller levers on the north wall and 2 smaller levers on the east wall as well. All four are in the up position.   There are 80 buttons, 20 per row, and two rows per the north and east walls.   Balen, tries pulling up the large toggle switch on the north wall and first thing to happen is that the south and west outer walls of the room light up, showing a phantasmal image of the entire maze from above. Many of the doors on the map are lit with a green light.   Balen ejaculates, “Where’s the treasure? Dammit!! We ain’t found shit here, lost half the party for nothing!”, he then tries pulling the east wall toggle switch down, which then causes a message to appear in an unknown language, across the image map, flashing every two seconds.   Camlin says, “Well, just go back to where you last took a dump then you’ll find some Balen!”   Sheila tries to rabbit punch Camlin at the remark but missed, telling Camlin, to apologize.   Camlin says, “What now Sheila?! I just cracked a sarcastic joke at the jester!”   Sheila says, “This is how mutinies start. Apology?”   Camlin says, “Oh for goodness sakes Sheila. Look Balen I’m sorry, Ok?”   Balen says, “Yeah, sure, no problem.”   It is now: 06:00 am on August 27 (Day 29 on the Isle of Dread).   And that Ends today's Adventure Gaming Session!   Experience Points Awarded this Session: None this session   Loot Found: Golden platter with 3 apples (all magical): All 3 apples disappeared when shown to the holographic head.   What was acquired so far: Golden Bust ~ 5 lbs, of male with short hair, hooked nose and bushy eyebrows 2 golden bells, one of which is magical and drops exploding fireball rubies when rung 1 golden chalice 1 golden platter   Total Session XP: None this session   Player Character | Current Level | Experience Points | Need for Next Level   Bard Jester – Balen:  LVL: 7  |    XP: 46,240.254  |  (Need: 70,000 for Level 8)   Cleric – Sheila:  Level: 7  |  XP:  61,241.254  |  (Need: 110,001 for level 8)    Guardian (Paladin) – Rowan Root:  Level:  7  |   XP: 76,241.254  |  (Need: 140,001 for level 8)    Magic-User – Quintolos:  Level: 7 / 7 XP: 62,922.325 cleric  /  62,922.325 Magic-User  |  (Need: 110,001 cleric for level 8 / 90,001 MU for level 8)   Magic-User – Xilicien:  Level: 7  | XP:  69,477.504  |  (Need: 90,001 for level 8) Ranger – Camlin:  Level: 7  |  XP: 96,240.254  |  (Need: 150,001 for level 8)   Ranger - Coal Blackburn:  Level: 8  |  XP:  =  161,197.004|  (Need: 225,001 for level 9)   Warlock - Doña Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul:  Level: 7  |  XP: 102,240.254  |  (Need: 192,000 for level 8)       Character XP totals are now all up to date.
