Roll20 Call of Cthulhu: Bonus / Penalty Dice

At the moment the CoC sheet offers a separate roll for bonus/penalty dice after a skill check. The output of that roll is... improvable. Currently it just shows the outcome of one 1d10 roll, nothing else. There is no real distinction between bonus and penalty although the code asks. Much better solution would be to show something like "original roll (percentage), bonus/penalty roll (percentage - the lower d10 is the same as original), result (pass/fail)". The data are all present, so this shouldn't be much effort.
Okay, I just found that this has been reported as a bug a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, while a number of other bugs were fixed this one was omitted for reasons I don't understand.

Hi Linda, As you surmised, bonus and penalty dice functionality is a little lacking on the sheet at the moment. The reasons for these are multitude, but the gist is that the information that the dice roller outputs is not accessible for reuse (i.e. if you roll a d100, it just sends to the chat, there's no way to extract the result for reuse in a later roll). There is some work on the way to address this, the status of which you can see here , but it is still in the process of being thoroughly tested. The current implementation does actually roll additional dice when asked, but combines them all into a single roll, taking the highest (if penalty dice) or lowest (if bonus dice).
Hi Nic, thank you for the update. A long time ago I worked as a software developer for a couple of years. Then one day, 25 years ago, I changed my career to project management and consulting. So it is obvious I don't have an exact understanding of today's development standards. But if a, from the point of view of functionality, rather simple function takes months to implement it seems clear to me that the underlying software architecture needs a full redesign. I was told that some other sheets do have a working solution for the bonus/penalty dice. Maybe you could take a look at those sheets to get the idea. Cheers, Linda
