Hi.. Just finished a 18-episode 'railroad' game that got worse as it went on (using a Dungeon magazine adventure series). Both player and DM were getting tired of the lack of any free time, so new game will be different. We'll be starting Sunday, 10/04. I have 1 player already (a Barbarian), and another who hasn't picked his role, both from my previous game - so looking to add 3-4 new characters, beginners more than welcome. We have room for a magic user, a cleric, a rouge (want to make sure those 3 are covered) and the other can be another fighter or a dup of one of the other. So far as characters, I'm slightly 'homebrew' there - I only have a couple rules - 1) 'meanest' character can be Chaotic Neutral. Had one player who played a CE without telling me and ruined most of the game for other players. want to avoid that again. 2) No dual-class. Silliest rule they ever came up with. Outside of those rules - Nada. Any of the other classes (though I think I'd had my fill of artificers.. if you want to play one, be forewarned. I run them literally - things you make 'act' like magic - but in my game, they 'aren't' magic. Come across something that can only be hurt by magic, no dice). So far as species (I hate the way they use the word 'races'), couldn't care in the least - If you always wanted to play something from the Monster manual, and can explain to me how it would work (one thing - it needs to be able to fit in the tavern door, so no frost giant players), I'm game. Of course, any of the old standby are fine as well. We'll be starting at 1st level, brand new babies in the D&D world. Game will be 'sandbox', ie, very open. Players can pick their own path. Want to go on an adventure? there will be options. Want to explore the town? Go for it. Want to pool all your money, buy a Bag of Beans, and spend the session planting them (Think in my previous game, especially the way the later states were so scripted as to where they went, enjoyed the session where they did just that - bought bags of beans and spent the whole session planting them, most hoping for the eggs that would give them bonus points for stats, though they did get a barrel full of Bullettes, a couple Mummy Lords and a beanstalk). I'll have a central city you all will meet at, have the method all set up, and it'll be up to the 'team' as to what to do. Should be a lot of fun, a lot of roleplaying, and to keep both players from being to tied up and give the DM time to set up the next session, we'll be playing every other week. If you are interested in Joining, Just send me a message here in Roll 20, letting me know your name, what - if any - experience you have playing D&D5E or any other version, how familiar you are with Roll20, and the class and species you'd like to play. I'll look over applicants in the order they are received, and hope to have a team set up in time for the game. The two remaining players I have from my last game are both great, and we all look forward to welcoming more folks to the new game! James, aka DM James
