The last episode ended with the our Adventurers returning to Ensburn after a long and unsuccessful fight against Drystan Cornog and his gang. Battle weary and sore, the Adventurers took the afternoon and evening to recover and to discuss what their next step would be. Over dinner they spoke about returning to Ealinor and telling Bill of their outcome; however, Jett and the new member to the group, Catsi, were adamant about returning to Cornog Farm and taking Drystan and his gang out entirely. In the end, they all agreed to return to the farm and a plan was prepared whereby they would trap the Gang in their house and burn it down around them. In the 2 hours they had left to complete their long rest, Catsi spent the time binding her torches together with thick string so she could throw them over the thatched roof of the house once the torches were alight. On the 8th hour after noon, the Adventurers set out once more for Cornog Farm under the cover of night, and the slowly growing formation of clouds foreboding a possible rainy night. DM NOTE: For those who may be interested. As the party were planning on setting the house alight I decided that the amount of fire occurring was by a percentage roll of a D100, with the lower the number the less fire occurring. Back at the farm, Jett snuck ahead and ensured all the Gang were together in the main house. With that done, the team split up to surround the house with Jett covering the rear and Catsi the left. Tados cast invisibility on Bardryn and with a CRIT stealth roll, the usually loud Dwarf crept silently to the right side door. Naivara and Tados moved to cover the front door; however, Tados caught his foot on the stone walkway leading to the door and fell, crying out in pain as his knee struck the stone beneath. Unfortunately, this did alert a Gang member inside and for the next minute, the team was disadvantaged in stealth rolls. Recovering from his fall, Tados quickly used his heat metal spell to
make the front door handle red hot in case they tried to open it. As the Adventurers were taking the Gang by surprise, they had some time to set up their plan. On the left of Drystan's house, Catsi, from her tree perch, rolled a high DEX and successfully threw a line of lit torches onto
the roof of the building. Unfortunately, the roof did not immediately take light
despite being thatched roof. At the rear of the house, Jett smeared pitch onto the rear door and lit it, starting
a fire at the back door. He then heaved against a small pile of logs and successfully pushed a few against the rear door stopping any exit. On the right side of the house, Bardryn put a box crate against the door stopping any exit, and confident in her sneakiness, attempted to throw a
torch through the window but her CRIT FAIL DEX roll made the attempt unsuccessful, and the torch hit the wall, falling to the ground where the flame of the torch started a small grass fire. At the front door, Naivara used some pitch that Catsi gave her to smear the front door, and then used her Burning Hands spell which ignited the front of the house
in fire. As the ire began to take light, and the noise of the logs against the back door alerted Drsytan to people outside, he immediately called for his gang to find a way out of
the house. The three members closest to the doors attempted to open them, but the one at
the front burnt his hand on the red hot handle, the one on the right is unable
to budge the door open due to the crate Bardryn placed there, and the one at the rear cannot open the door due to the logs. Back with the Adventurers, Catsi jumped down from the tree, moving to the rear of the house and, with another successful DEX roll, threw another line of
torches onto the roof of the building, but again a low percentage roll meant the torches do not immediately light the roof on fire. While Jett yelled out for each Adventurer to cover a window, noticing that was the only way the Gang could evacuate the house. He and Catsi then covered the two windows at the rear of the house. On their turns, Tados and Naivara threw lit torches onto the roof, as they made their way to the left side of the house to cover the windows there, which immediately takes
light, and Bardryn follows suit with one of her torches also alighting the roof while she covered a window on her side of the house. Stuck inside a now slowly growing burning roof, Drystan orders the gang members try to make their way through the windows. Two members, a male and female, get stuck halfway through the window frame on the left side of the house where Tados and Naivara are, while two other male members misjudge their progress through the window knocking their heads on the frame and do not manage to make it through. Lue, the female sorceress, easily makes it through a rear window where Jett is, while Drystan runs to the window on the right of the house where Bardryn is and also makes it through the window. With the house aflame, and the Gang members on the move, initiative order is commenced. Order is Jett, Drystan, Tados, Naivara, Catsi, Male Member, Male Member, Male Member, Bardryn, Female Member, Lue. Starting off the turn order, Jett sees the female Sorceress escaping through the window near him and immediately goes on the attack remembering how hard she was to contend with when she was using her spells. His attacks caught Lue by surprise and did a great amount of damage, critically hitting
her with his poisoned daggers. Under the campaign rules, Jett was also able to nominate a limb to be incapacitated which he selected a leg, slowing Lue's movement to half speed. Using his bonus turn, Jett uses his movement and disengage ability to move to the roof of the Storehouse. Second in turn, Drystan, successfully jumping through the window, sees Bardryn and immediately attacks. However, as he had just was just coming out of the window he was at disadvantage and his attacks were easily thwarted by the Dwarf fighter. Naivara sees the female member stuck halfway through the window and successfully attacks her having advantage as the female member is stuck. And this also applied for Tados as the male member at his window was also stuck, allowing him to successfully attack him. Now on her turn, Catsi, seeing the Sorceress, Lue coming out of the window and being attacked by Jett, yells her name and charges at her. As she does so, she begins twirling her ball and chain with the aim to ensnare Lue in it, grappling her. Her higher DEX rolls made this attempt successfull and Lue was wrapped in her chain, now grappled. With her bonus turn Catsi attempted to move the chain around Lue's neck to attempt to choke her and, again, her higher DEX rolls made this possible. The male gang member stuck I window still can't get through, not rolling high enough on his DEX, while one of the two that initially did not make it through the window again missed his chance, rolling low on his DEX. The other one that didn't make it through, rolled high enough to make it halfway through the window. Bardryn retaliated against Drystan, having advantage on this turn as he had just come through the window, making successful attacks on the Leader. While the female member could not continue her movement through the window. On to Lue's turn, now that she is restrained by Catsi she tried to pull against the chains and retake some measure of balance though a lower STR roll made the attempt unsuccessful. At the end of the turn order, a D100 was rolled for each sire where the fire was starting to take hold to determine if the flames took a further hold. In the four main areas, the fire began spreading and burning more of the thatched roof. The male member still inside the house takes 2D8 smoke inhalation damage, as does the Gang members stuck in the windows. Back at the top of the turn order, seeing Lue wrapped in Catsi's chain, Jett jumps down from the Storehouse roof and attacks Lue CRIT hitting her for 50hp, killing her. While Naivara and Tados make successful advantageous attacks against the female and male stuck in the windows. Catsi tries to fling a now dead Lue at the male stuck in the window on their side but is unable as her limp body
falls to the ground. She instead focuses on guy half out window, and successfully ensnares him in her chain instead. The rest of the turn order results in the members still being stuck in the windows, Bardryn successfully attacking Drystan and fire spreading further along the thatched roof with those stuck in the windows taking smoke inhalation damage. From now on any creature in 5ft of house takes smoke damage. With the Sorceress dead, Jett sees Drystan attacking Bardryn and moves to aid her, successfully attacking drsytan. Though Drystan retaliates with successfull attacks also. Naivara attempts to use Burning Hands on the female stuck in the window but somehow, despite being disadvantaged, the female warrior successfully avoids it rolling the relevant DEX amount. Tados attempts to use Heat Metal but the male member also succeeds the relevant CON throw despite being disadvantaged. Catsi pins her guy to the window with her foot while pulling
on the chain to choke him, while the male member at Tados' window tries to attack but misses. The male member inside the house tries to get through the window again but is once more misses the window. Bardryn hits Drystan and the female member at Naivara's window still cannot get out. The fire rages on the roof and those stuck take inhalation damage, all of the Adventurers are just outside 5ft of the house and do not take inhalation damage. The three-way battle between Drystan, Jett and Bardryn continues with all three making successful attacks against each other, while Naivara unsuccessfully tries to push the female at the window back inside the house. After making his attack, Jett retreats to a safer area from the encircling smoke. Tados successfully attacks the male before him stuck in the window, while Catsi swings ball at the pinned member and CRIT hits crushing his head, leaving him hanging for life. With her bonus action, she pulls on the chain choking the guy out, his limp body falling to the ground. The male member stuck inside finally manages to get out the window
crumpling to ground gasping for fresh air, while Bardryn tries to push Drystan prone onto the ruined cart near them but is not
strong enough. He smiles down at her an saying "Try harder, little Dwarf". Bardryn does such and, using her action surge, whips out her battleaxe successfully hitting Drystan taking the smile from
his face. The female member at Naivara's window finally gets through with a CRIT DEX roll ensuring she does not have disadvantage on next rolls. Fire engulfs the roof and Drystan, female member, male member, and now free male
member take smoke damage. At a safer disrtance, Jett fires arrows at Drystan from shortbow successfully hitting him, however, a raged Drystan successfully attacks Bardryn knocking her unconscious. Naivara uses her Acid Splash spell, hurling poison at the now free female member. The acid hits causing her skin to melt from her leaving the female member fighting
for life, while on his turn, Tados sends healing to Bardyn bringing her to consciousness but still prone. He then
strikes at the male warrior, CRIT hitting him leaving him fighting for life. Catsi, seeing Drystan downing Bardryn, runs at him yelling his
name. As Drystan turns to her, Catsi swings her ball and chain at him hitting in
the head and sending him reeling. She then jumps onto the cart and swings ball again with her bonus turn, successflyul hitting him once more with a CRIT blow hearing bone crunching beneath the metal of the ball. Now conscious, Bardryn jumps up in rage and with two successfull hits of her Battleaxes takes off Drytran's head, which she then carries to the well and kicks
it down the hole. The turn ends with smoke damage on the female and male members near the house which knocks them down, their limp bodies falling to the ground. This is where the night's episode left, with all but one of the Gang members dead or unsoncious.
