GURPS Night's Watch Campaign- A Song of Ice and Fire

Hello Roll20, I'm currently seeking four more players for a Night's Watch campaign in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe. For more information While I have no experience with GURPS, I have GM'd an A Song of Ice and Fire RPG campaing before, and am quite familiar with the universe. There's no set time yet--we can work that out during a Skype interview. For more information, see the LFG page: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/13072/gurps-a-s...
Way intrigued by the premise, unsure about the system. Everything I've heard about GURPS is it's something of an unwieldy juggernaut of a system.
Yeah, GURPS is a pretty big system, but the catch is that it has a lot of optional rules. There's not much magic in A Song of Ice and Fire, so magic rules won't be utilized really. Also the combat has a lot of optional rules, so I'll just make it a basic setting. For the past few days I've been making an effort to make sure that it's at a level where it won't be too overwhelming for the players (or for me later on). And during the first session, we'll probably do a group character create, and I'll be sure to post helpful rules documents on the campaign forums. So I'm aware that GUPRS can seem crazy but I'm confident I can manage it and will do everything in my power to help my players manage it. If you're interested, just send me your Skype info and we can set up an interview.
This sounds interesting, but I am quite wary about GURPS. Sadly, my experience with it was not positive.

I'm interested. I have a good amount of knowledge on GURPS and ASoIAF. Only watched the show so far. I have the books and am planning on reading them. GURPS isn't as bad as many make it out to be. I caught on quickly. With the help of a good GM.
Mach, thanks for the interest in my game. Please send me your skype information along with your time zone, and what time you're available for an inteview. You can just send me a PM if you're not comfortable sharing it with the world. If you're not sure how to send a PM just click on my name at the top of the post and click "send private message" just below my profile picture.
Out of curiosity, why did you opt for GURPS instead of the ASoIAF RPG system?
Paul, there were two big things I didn't like about the A Song of Ice and Fire RPG: the bonus dice and the combat system. I felt that the bonus dice made the game too easy, ensuring that you'd always roll high in the most useful situations. As for the combat, it was far too easy to exploit. You can destroy some one's combat defense once you have 5+ fighting and 1-hit kill pretty much anybody. The reason I'm going for GURPS is because it's versatile enough to handle a Night's Watch game, and from what I've read, the combat is deadly and easy to customize (having optional rules and whatnot).
