Balen carrying a 5 ft x 2ft x ½ inch thick sheet of metal with him, hoping to find a blacksmith there.   The mongrelmen section of the city looks like a jungle that has overgrown old ruins. It’s one section that shows no sign of any new construction going on. The group travels due north then follow a path into the ruins that turns north west with their weapons drawn and ready, when suddenly a mongrelman guard comes out from his hiding spot to greet the party and gauge their intentions.   The mongrelman guard tells the party that if they wish to visit here, they must put away or tie down their weapons, before they enter. The party complies and Balen tells the guard to take them to a blacksmith after showing the sheet metal to the guard. The guard looks over the sheet metal and tells them the blacksmith would love to have a look at it.   With that the mongrelman guard, signals, some of the other guards to come forth and help escort the party into the compound. The group is escort up past a main gathering spot with at least 50 mogrelfolk around. Some of them approach the party and reach out to them patting them as the pass by. They reach the north part of the compound where the blacksmith is and the mongrel guard tells the blacksmith about the sheet metal. The blacksmith, looks over the metal with great interest, telling Balen he would love to make something from it. Balen tells him that he would like 6 daggers made and the offer is 7 gold pieces for each one to be made, which Balen accepts, telling him he can keep any left over metal.   Balen worries a bit about the quality as other blades he has seen the mongrel carry, mainly short swords, are anything but shiny and sharp looking.   While the exchange with the blacksmith was going on, Camlin, Phicenta and Sheila, realize that their coin pouches have been pilfered away!   Also to the east of the compound the party sees five, 10 ft tall poles, carved with various crude faces, that appear to be all sorts of mongrelmen. There is an iron loop 7 ft up the pole of which iron chains are attached to. These chains are connected to shackles that hold five prisoners up, whom are devoid of their gear and armor and looking weak and malnourished.   When asked why they are chained to the poles the mongrelman guard says, “I am sorry, you can not go that way. Those are prisoners brought here by the Yuan-Ti. They are being sacrificed, to the creatures that roam the jungle at night. Unless you have any more business here, I suggest it is best to leave now.”   Balen says, “What if I were to offer you some treasure?”   Mongrelman guard, “Treasure you say? What treasure, you speak of?”   Balen says, “I have a magical sword, If I may show it to you, it has runes on the blade.”   Mongrelman guard, “Oh yes, yes, let me see it!”   Balen unsteaths the Calenyanda long sword (a +1 Magical weapon).   Mongrelman guard, “Interesting! A green blade of elven make, most interesting blade it is, such fine craftsmanship and detail work.”   Balen says, “I will trade you this sword for those people, you can say they escaped.”   Mongrelman guard says, “Hmm, yes, alright, come this way then.” As they approach, just around the bend, the leader of the Mongrelmen, appears.   Leader says, “I am sorry but these prisoners are not to be released and you are now also prisoners, as you are wanted for the murders of Yuan-Ti citizens.”   Balen says, “Such a shame, guess your Blacksmith won’t be getting paid.”   Leader says, “However, I can be reasonable here. I offer you a challenge.”   Balen says, “What is the challenge?”   Leader says, “If you can beat me in a wrestling match, I will release the prisoners and let you all go free. If not, you will stay prisoners. Does any one of you accept my challenge?”   Balen says, “Me? Or you mean, one of us?”   Xilicien says, “What are the terms of the duel?”   Leader says, “Whomever wishes to fight me. If I lose these 5 prisoners go free, as do you. If not you are also prisoners.”   One of the prisoners, a male half-elf, looks up and starts to speak, but his head droops down unconscious.   Coal says, “I will accept this challenge and fight you.”   Everyone makes their way back to the main part of the compound where a crowd gathers around and a spot is left open with Coal on one side and the Mongrelmen Leader on the other.   The Leader says, “Here are the rules of the match: 1) No spellcasting, 2) No help from others, 3) No rest breaks, 4) No armor or weapons and 5) We fight to the death. Are you ready to fight Coal?”   Coal says, “Sure.” It was decided that Coal fights fairly and it was decided by a D6 roll that the Mongrelman Leader would as well.   Round #01 of the Wrestling Match Begins with The leader going first!   Mongrelman Leader, tries to Head Lock Coal but missed the attempt!   Coal, scores a Head Lock on the Leader for 4 hit points damage!     Round #02: Leader, tries to Punch Coal but missed!   Coal, gets the Leader in another Head Lock for 4 damage!     Round #03: Leader, scores a Bear Hug on Coal for 5 damage!   Coal, missed the Leader trying to Head Lock him!     Round #4: Leader, scores a Head Lock on Coal for 4 damage!   Coal, Hits the Leader with a Head Butt for 10 bludgeoning damage!     Round #05: Leader, scores a Bear Hug on Coal for 5 damage!   Coal, tries to Kidney Punch the Leader but missed!

He shakes his head in a no and stands back up, telling others to take the King’s body away.   The Mongrelman says, “I now declare Coal Blackstone as the Victor!”   Some in the crowd cheers!   Coal says, “Yeah! I won, Let the Prisoners and us go then!”   Mongrelman says, “Release the Prisoners at once! Coal follow me, to the King’s abode, the rest of you as well.”   The party goes to the former King’s abode as some mogrelmen rush off to release the 5 prisoners.   When inside the former King’s abode, the Mongrelman says, “Ok, now that we are all here. I must inform Coal and the rest of you that Coal is now considered our new Leader for winning the match.”   The Mongrelman tells the former prisoners, “You former prisoners are free to go, your equipment will be returned.”   Balen says, “Nice knowing you Coal.”   When Coal ask if he can leave the compound, the mongrelman tells him “Yes, of course however, your guards and whomever you pick as companions will always remain with you, where-ever you go.”   Mongrelman says, “That said, are any of these fine young (mongrelman) ladies of interest to you Coal? (he sweeps his arms indicating the former king’s 4 companions.)   King Coal says, “Eh, what! Uhmm, No! They are free to go!”   The companions all frown, saddened to be rejected by such a handsome man.   Balen says, “Sure, I’ll Take that one, (Points to one.)”   The mongrellady smiles at Balen, happy to be chosen by the King’s friend!   The Mongrelman guard informs King Coal, that he is actually glad that Coal has won the release of the prisoners, as they were given to them by the Yuan-Ti to be sacrificed to the beast the roam the city at night. The Mongrel folk do not care for the Yuan-Ti and their business here. He mentions that the Yuan-Ti are preparing for their god to return to the worl, of which he will then reside over us all!   King Coal, informs the Mongrelman that Sertrous is a demon lord, imprisoned on his home plane and wishes to destroy the world not rule over it!   The Mongrelman guard says, “Oh Dear! This is bad indeed! You are King now, what do you wish us to do about this?”   King Coal, tells them to just lay low for now and continue to do their biddings as they are not strong enough yet to overcome them all. Also, make sure that your blacksmith gets those daggers made for Balen, or he will be placed on a sacrificial pole himself!   The Mongrel says, “Oh yes, I will inform the blacksmith Sire!”     It is now: 9:30 am on August 29 (Day 31 on the Isle of Dread).   And that Ends today's Adventure Gaming Session!   Experience Points Awarded this Session: None this session   Loot Found: None this session     Total Session XP: None this session   Player Character | Current Level | Experience Points | Need for Next Level   Bard Jester – Balen:  LVL: 7  |    XP: 46,240.254  |  (Need: 70,000 for Level 8)   Cleric – Sheila:  Level: 7  |  XP:  61,241.254  |  (Need: 110,001 for level 8)    Guardian (Paladin) – Rowan Root:  Level:  7  |   XP: 76,241.254  |  (Need: 140,001 for level 8)    Magic-User – Quintolos:  Level: 7 / 7 XP: 62,922.325 cleric  /  62,922.325 Magic-User  |  (Need: 110,001 cleric for level 8 / 90,001 MU for level 8)   Magic-User – Xilicien:  Level: 7  | XP:  69,477.504  |  (Need: 90,001 for level 8) Ranger – Camlin:  Level: 7  |  XP: 96,240.254  |  (Need: 150,001 for level 8)   Ranger - Coal Blackburn:  Level: 8  |  XP:  =  161,197.004|  (Need: 225,001 for level 9)   Warlock - Doña Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul:  Level: 7  |  XP: 102,240.254  |  (Need: 192,000 for level 8)       Character XP totals are now all up to date.
