I am a DM with 30+ years of experience running games (since 1983) who is also an English PhD student studying role-playing games. I am looking for one player for a Rise of the Runelords Tuesday night game using Pathfinder First Edition. We are just about to begin the second chapter of our campaign and have an opening for (1) player! This is your chance to play one of Paizo's best adventure paths, a journey into the closely-guarded secrets of Golarion's past! (Although you missed the first chapter, there's plenty left to come - and lots of opportunity to build your PC's narrative arc. There's 5 more chapters to go...) Rise of the Runelords (Weekly Tuesdays 7pm-11pm CDT) This game will require payment to the Game Master, via PayPal, at a rate of $45 per Campaign Chapter (6 Chapters total), paid before the session, or a one time fee of $200 for the full campaign, paid before Nov 1st. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. (My pay rates are lower than almost every other paid game. This usually works out to about $5/session - or less.) If you're interested in the game, reply to this ad below or simply PM me (Apshai) with your application. I would like to know a little about you , your roleplaying experience (none is required), and why you would like to join the game! Feel free to ping me with any questions you might have :) I'm very much looking forward to playing with new friends... About Me I'll admit charging money to play D&D is a little weird...at least I used to think that, but since I've run paid games, I doubt I would return to the old system. By joining a paid game, you're joing a community of folks who have invested in the game and a DM who is committed to the full campaign. I'm an academic who makes rent by running games during the summer. D&D and RPGs are the basis of my academic study and also my passion (would you like to see my MA thesis?). I have a long history of running games and currently run a longterm 1E campaign. I have dungeon mastered for 30 years, for players of nearly every background and level of experience - and I love welcoming new players into role-playing. I have DMed at conventions such as GaryCon and DunDraCon and volunteer for an organization which teaches high school students role-playing. I'm laid back, easy-going, and invested in making sure my players have a good time. You can see a few testimonials from previous - and current - players about my DMing style on my profile page. About my DM style I love both role-playing and roll-playing. My games are a very even balance between creating unique narratives and challenging tactical encounters. I love watching players evolve and develop their characters, and I provide as much opportunity as possible to do so. I believe there should be stakes for play; although I'll tailor any game to the experience level of my players, you should expect to be challenged and to rely on your wits and creativity to vanquish your foes. I also think that many of the best stories in RPGs come from when things don't work out like you imagined... ...I also don't take any game too seriously, and ask my players not to. RPing is fun and a place to build communities. All I expect from my players is you keep your commitments, treat everyone with respect, and acknowledge that everyone in the group - including your paid but still fallible DM - is a person. About the Campaign I am not going to say much here: one of the things I like about Runelords is the mystery which unfolds across all 6 chapters. Suffice to say, they packed almost everything you could hope to experience in this campaign! If you want to glance at what you can expect, here's Paizo's page about Runelords . Games will be played using Roll20 for VTT and Discord for voice.
