Hello, I am looking for some new players. Last time I reached out on here, I found some lovely new players so with a new game starting up I am giving it another shot. I will be running an Urban Fantasy game called Unknown Armies, 3rd Edition. Unknown Armies is a game without werewolves and/or vampires and/or many other classical movie monsters. Everything in Unknown Armies is human, or was human. It is a game about the choices you make, as the game's motto is "You Did It". As the setting of the game is basically our world with some hidden elements. Players do not need to know the system or the lore of the world, I am willing to teach the system and discovering the truth of the world around you is one of the main focuses of the game. The concept for the plot of this revolves a group of people who are either paranormal investigators searching for paranormal things and trying to get them caught on camera, or a group of friends who jointly witness something supernatural and come across a being they cannot explain, a being that now seems to be following them. I am open to running some other group concept in if the players collectively end up liking some other idea better. As for characters you can play, you can be anything you want in the game and do nearly anything you want within the rules of the game and the confines of the group (Trying to play a soccer mom obsessed over the PTA might not work in a group of homeless street urchins, or playing a high powered lawyer or corporate executive in a group of young rowdy 20 somethings). The game will be very driven by the character's own goals more than a series of combat encounters or a series of dice roll challenges. Combat, when it does occur in game, is often short and deadly and often best avoided as your actions will have consequences, and gunshots hurt, even if they don't put you down. While there are dark corners and terrible people doing terrible things, the world also holds people who use what power they had to look out for others, to keep them safe when they can, such groups may be small and underfunded and need your help even more than you need there, but they exist... and sometimes they win. The world of Unknown Armies can be a scary mysterious place, but you aren't alone in the dark mysterious unknown, but is that a comfort to you or what should really be afraid of? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Prologue: Most people think the world is as they have always know it to be, that nothing could exist that they do not know about, Most people believe this because it's easier to think you have everything under control, but some people know there are things that can't be explained, because they've seen them, and they know the world is balanced precariously with any number of things that could tip it over On Sunday December 31st 2017: Popular singer-songwriter Liliana Rosechild jumped to her death off the Wilshire Grand Center building in Los Angeles, California. Roughly an hour earlier she pushed her abusive boyfriend off the same balcony onto the concrete below. It took news crews less than 10 minutes to arrive and within 20 minutes the police were on the scene and trying to gain entrance to the building, which had been locked tight. During this time, Liliana simply stood on the balcony in a white dress and blonde wig. Around 8:30 PDT, a livestream of a camera feed atop an adjacent building started airing the live image of Lilana just standing on the ledge of the building as the police began evacuation of the Wilshire Grand and setting up the perimeter. Comments posted to the live stream compared both her and her current look to Marylyn Monroe. Around 8:50 PDT various screens all over the United States, especially in big cities began showing the livestream. Several television channels were hijacked and began playing the livestream, while others new broadcast, hearing about what was happening began to cover the developing situation, drawing more attention to it. During this time Lilanna simply stood on the balcony looking out at the world At 8:56:22 pm music began playing on the live stream. The song was of Liliana singing an original song from her failed musical on the life of Marylin Monroe. The song was the finale "Don't Forget Me" and it ran for 3 minutes and 33 seconds. While the music played the livestream switched to a prerecorded video showing Liliana singing on stage interspersed with other clips about her life and her struggles. As the song neared its end, it faded back to a live shot of Liliana who was no now standing on the ledge and singing with the song, raising her hands to the heavens. As the final note hit and she sang the last line "and please, let me be that star", and as she hit the last note she stepped off the balcony and began falling through the open air. Millions of eyes saw it happened, they were watching in person or glued to the screens all across America. I got more coverage on the west coast, where it was happening more locally and earlier in the evening but it was seen by many more people on the east coast where the time was roughly 11:59 pm on December 31st, New Year's Eve, when she stepped off that ledge. Some say there was a bright flash of light as she, but the feed whited out and never came back on as she fell. Several electronics reportedly exploded and melted on sight, a few of the monitor also catastrophically failed, later blamed on power surges, but in that moment the world watching didn't care, not it fell into chaos. Most of those who watched began to lose their shit at what they saw. Some began rioting attacking the police, each other, anything they could get their hands on. There were several deaths due to being beat to death. Others fled, running over anyone who got in their way, causing more fatalities as people were stomped and trampled under the felling fearful hoard. Some simply froze in place and many of them were the victims who were soon assaulted and/or trampled by those around them in the other two groups. This would be bad enough if one of the screens showing the suicide of beloved singer and starlet Liliana Rosechild hadn't been in NYC Times Square where many were gathered to watch the year's festivities. The damages were extensive and records got fuzzy after that but if you dig hard enough you can finds that all reports say only one body was found on the street directly below the Wilshire Grand Building that evening. Now you may be asking... What does this have to do with me? And to that I say, Nothing... and everything. This is just one of the many possible secrets to uncover about the truth of the world around you. A world which you know isn’t quite what it seems, but is exactly what it is. What that is, is for you to discover for yourself... whoever you may be. because you could be anyone. The only key point is you want something really bad, bad enough that it sometimes keeps you up at night and drives your actions. It drives you so hard you have sought out others who also want things similar to you and you all are going to see how you can change the world and maybe figure out just how everything will go. The question is, do you really want to know the truth and when you do... Can you handle it?
