DM/Player Character Token Issue

Ok so I've been having an issue where if I as the DM cannot place my players' character tokens onto the map. Or more accurately I can, but when I do, the players themselves can't move their tokens on their own. So in order for them to have control over their piece they themselves have to place it on the board in the first place. (Which to be fair is not the worst issue, but is still a bit annoying from time to time) This has never been an issue in other games I have played. Is there something I may have accidentally done to make it this way, and how can I undo it?

Are you getting the token from the Journal or from your library? If you place it from your library it has no connection to any sheets so it has no control assigned.

You need to place the token from the Journal tab, not the open character journal. The former places the default token on the VTT, while the latter merely puts a graphic on the board.

It hasn't done this for other games I've run before so I don't know why it's doing it now.

Since the forum isn't flooded with reports, this is most likely a procedural error. Some other things to check: Are you placing the player tokens on the token layer? If you placed them on the map layer by accident, this would result in the behavior you are seeing. Since the players seem to be able to place without issue, double check to make sure that there aren't multiple characters with similar names. Also, when you have placed a token on the board, and they cannot move it, open up the preferences on it and verify that the permissions are still set correctly.

Double-check   to  ensure  that  there  are  not  many  characters  with  identical  names  as  the  players  seem  to  be  able  to  put  without a  problem .   Also ,   open  up  the  preferences  on  it  and  check  that  the  permissions  are  still  set  correctly  when  you  have  put  a  token  on  the  board ,   and  they  will  not  transfer  it .   psychology anxiety depression
