Player couldn't control another player's token, even after permission granted

Last night, one of my players couldn't make it, so I asked another player to control him. I changed the Controlled By to this other player's name, but this didn't work. The only way things seemed to work was when I changed the Represents Character to the other player's character (the player who was filling in for him) but then of course that connected the filling in player's character sheet with the token. The same thing happened when I wanted that player to control Ezmerelda, they were not able to move Ez's token, and could only access her character sheet via the Journal. Any thoughts?
Have you dragged in a new token after you changed permissions? Generally, that works with me.
No, good thought ... will give that a try! Thanks!

Make sure you switched the correct permission: there are two. One grants control and edit access, the other only puts the character into their journal. For best results, set both.

I know you should be able to set the permission to a specific player, but have you tried setting permissions to "All Players"?  Seems I had a similar issue in the past and I was able to work around the glitch with "All Players".
Thanks, Vince, I can certainly try that
