Player Side Visual Display of Layering Tokens Question

So, many years ago Roll20 used to allow for players to see tokens layered as how the Gm saw it, but with one of the dynamic lightning updates there was now a forced vision where Players ALWAYS see their tokens on top, regardless of their actual depth in regards to other tokens. For instance, as an example. As a GM, I see this: The player of Vika see's this layering as this: I have a script that lets players assign their token depth (from back to front) but they can't visually see how their tokens are layered with others (except for their own tokens). Is there some kind of script that would revert the forced point of view where a players controlled characters HAVE to always be on top? So that players can see how their tokens are layered by depth in regards to other tokens?

I haven't tried it in a long time but the Carry Tokens script would allow one token to be placed above or below another token. The point of the script is to have a rider on a mount, or a token carrying a torch or something both move together. I'm not sure it works for more than two tokens, though.

afaik there is not such an option. I read somewhere that putting the players own token on top was a concious decission and that not doing this leads to much more grief for players not being able to select their token because another is on top.

Martijns is correct, save that it was more a question of seeing the token, rather than selecting it. The "fix" was a part of "advanced" fog of war changes at one point. 

I gave the carry tokens script a shot, just to see if it would work and unfortunately it does not. But I didn't even know this script existed, and it's kinda cool. I knew that the token layering was a "fix" by the roll20 team due to grief for other players with the advanced fog of war changes. I just wasn't sure if there was some kind of script that could supersede the fix, or if there was a script that put players in different "player" layers to allow for token overlaying. I appreciate the responses.

I got nothin', really. Am aware that Roll20 has been displaying this way, since the above-described 'fix' / changes. Here's all I've got for a workaround, and it's useless. If you make everyone (your Players) a Co-GM, and unassign them from control of that character, then they won't see that effect. They'll see what you see as GM, cuz they'll be a GM too.  Another useless workaround. Unattach the TOKEN from the Character. Give the "All Players" control of that token, without it being assigned to any Character.  Blah, sorry, like I said, these ideas won't work as a practical matter because of introducing other unwanted differences at the same fell swoop. I just always try to look for ways of achieving a gameplay style goal in Roll20's existing features.

Unfortunately, making all players a gm isn't a reliably tactic. The idea of removing a token's link to a sheet and giving everyone control is a novel idea, though. It would just be remarkably tedious for all character and npc sprites on a page. I also know of one other way to work within the bounds of the game to allow token layering, but it is almost as equally tedious to mess with. If you remove vision from tokens, they actually do layer again, it's just you then can't employ certain advanced fog of war features. Which, I suppose, is a small price to pay to be able to layer tokens again in some cases.  Either way, I appreciate the advice! It's given me more to think about that isn't going to rely on an api script to produce.
