First and foremost an explanation, This workshop was schedule to happen last Wednesday. I had this amazing idea that because I was on vacation last week, what better time to talk about how to handle PCs traveling from place to place in a campaign. It would be perfect, I would be in a beech house wearing a Hawaiian shirt talking about travel in rpgs. I took my desktop computer with me with everything I use for audio/video recording, I was ready to make it happen. As it turns out some houses still do not have internet. My rental house did not have internet. At all. So that plan went to... the GM's Tool box and thus we are having the workshop this week. To make up for it we will also be having a workshop next week, and there will also be a super secret announcement in the next few days (by super secret I mean posted in the public forum for all to see). A lot of really cool stuff is coming down the pipe for future workshops. Without further ado: GM Academy Workshop: Time, Travel, and Discover ******June 18, 2014 (Wednesday)****** 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time Handling Travel in Games How to make it seem like time has passed Engaging Discovery Using Travel as Part of a Story This workshop is going to focus on an often tricky issue in tabletop RPGs, how to handle travel. The PCs have to get from one place to another and it just feels wrong to say "...and you travel for 5 days before getting to the city". Yet on the other hand every time you use the campfire scene or random encounters it just seems cliche and stale. This workshop will cover all these points and give you some tools and understand of how to handle travel in your games. As always, the live table is reserved for members of our GMA community here on Roll20. For those not interested in joining on the live video call, you can always follow us live and post questions that will be taken live as well. The workshop will be hosted by Roll20 and up at Your GM Academy ,our YouTube page, both live and immediately after the workshop concludes. Open Slots: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. I look forward to seeing you at the table! Thanks, -[GM] Keaggan
