Linking Characters and Handouts

Hi all, I've been creating object tokens in game that represent "characters" so that the players can shift double click in order to see an image and a description of the object in question. That part is working great. However, when I try to create a link between a character and a handout or vice versa by adding [brackets] around a word or phrase, it's giving me an error message "This site can't be reached". Interestingly, this was working on and off a week ago. I'm following the same procedures each time, I have made absolutely sure the spelling is the same. The link shows up in purple correctly. Anybody else having this problem? On a related note, I'm having an issue where handouts pop out a blank or don't pop pout at all until I refresh. I'm working on the latest version of Chrome if that's relevant. Thanks in advance for any help!
Check if you have changed the permisions of the destination file.

Might be an issue with the recent Chrome update. You might want to try Firefox to see if you get different behavior in the other supported browser. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/9402096/handouts-not-opening
Thanks to you both! it does indeed seem to be working fine in Firefox.
