The first step is go to the looking for group up above in the blue banner then choose the game system you wish to play/learn There are a wide variety of game systems but you mentioned D&D so as you can see there are many forms of D&D. Deciding on one or many of them is up to you. The following steps are rather straight forward Choose the language you are comfortable in using, keywords are just a search filter to help narrow down your selection, Days is another filter that works to show only the days you are wanting game on, same with the to be played. Now the key spot you want to be sure to checkmark is the one I have highlighted "Only find games that welcome new players" as that will filter to show games that welcoming to people that are new. There is the what time you can start also filter. So you have all that or am I boring you yet? :) Now we are to the hardest part since everything so far was just a point and click. Now you have to put yourself on the line and show the GM of the game you are interested in why he should pick you for his game. Ask questions, post some non-personal info for him to get to know you some. This is your introduction to a stranger and your first impression. Make it good and you should get in the game. You can picture it this way, You just walked up to someone at a table with all those fascinating books laying around him and you are peering at the book covers (your initial hello sentence) and he looks at you with a raised eyebrow so you introduce yourself (the next sentence of your post).
