I should have added GMT to the title as I'm UK based. I've been GMing tabletop games for about 30 years after finding out about them while at Polytechnic, I only found out about Roll20 when all this Covid 19 thing started and it was quickly apparent that it wasn't going away quickly and my normal group wasn't getting back together around the table any time soon.  It's been a rather steep learning curve since then.  My normal group has now been playing D&D using Roll20 for about the last couple of months. As I work from home I can sort out my own scedule during the day and fancy trying to fit in an afternoon gaming one day a week, so I was wondering if there were other people interested in joining a game on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, between 1.00 and 4.00 approximately (days and times can be adjusted a bit to suit players) getting together once every week or so. My preference for fantasy games is D&D 4th Edition or 13th Age, myself and my normal group all felt that D&D took a step backwards with the changes they made going to 5th Ed.  I like to run an heroic game where players help each other to overcome the darkness in the world as opposed to a gritty, realistic style of game, I find D&D 4th ed, or 13th Age suit that type of game better.  It would be a homebrew world and campaign, so there would be some restrictions and changes to the basic rules. My normal group like fairly combat heavy games so that is what I'm more used to running, but I'm happy to add in more role playing if that is what the players want, just be warned I can't do any accents and I'm not good at individual voices. I also enjoy running more investigative games and Call of Cthulhu 7th ed would be my prefered system for those if that is what people prefer, these can end up on the opposite end of the spectrum, a lot of investigation, but very little combat. I will add that I have no compediums for the games, but I do have a lot of books and some pdfs, I'm happy to pregenerate characters for people if they haven't got the books and help teach them the rules. About myself, as you may have already worked out, I'm almost 50, and I'm female, when I started playing female gamers were something of a rarity, female GMs even more so.  I like players to have a degree of maturity about them, a few innuendos are fine, but I'm not keen on potty humour or a lot of swearing for no reason (a few expletive when you suddenly see the dracolich appear out of the darkness is acceptable). I also like to run very open games, very few rolls are made as '/w gm' ones.  I will also add that I am partially sighted so you will find that most abilities will end up macroed as I can't manage with too much clutter on my screen, and most rolls will be done as inline ones to save standard templates taking up so much of the chat box. So if anyone is interested either message me or reply here and we can start a discussion as to what people prefer.
Hi, I'm def interested, let me know if you get a game together!  I know 3.5 rules mostly and Pathfinder I have several of the books, but learning 4th E shouldn't be too hard.
4th is very different to 3.5 or 5th, and that is probably why so many weren't keen on it.  However if you are willing to learn I'm happy to try and teach. Do you have any preference as to which day you would want to play?
Salutations! My name is Brett and I am a long time spectator and first-time campaign seeker. I first cut my teeth on this DM from Twitch.tv Arcadum. It just blew my mind at the fact that I could escape the monotony of my day to day and travel off to a distant land to live out my life as someone completely different to myself. Anyway, I will spare you the rest of my gawking. I just wanted to express my infatuation with DnD and my desperate attempt to hop into a campaign of my own. I will say that I am going in almost completely blind. I have never experienced a campaign where I have a PC of my own. I have only watched in awe. If you have a spot available and the patience to teach me. I would love to come aboard and make memories. Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Brett
Hello. I’d be interested. My personal experience with D&D ended in AD&D, where I found character creation a little limited (it may have changed since), so my preference would be Call of Cthulhu, but honestly, I’m not too fussy. Despite the fancy looking achievements on my profile (which I think I got by accidentally joining a game and not leaving), I haven’t managed to use Roll20 to play a game, so there would be a learning curve for me. Also, my timezone and availability are pretty limited. So I’m putting my hand up to show my interest, in the hope that things fall into place and I can join it.
For me, my preference would be to run D&D 4th ed on a Wednesday afternoon (GMT). @Alister, having looked at your profile (I didn't even know about those, I've filled my own in a bit now having found it) I'm not sure your available times and mine really meet up.  D&D 4th edition is an entirely different game to 2nd, 3rd or 5th edition, so it might be one version you could enjoy.  If there was any way you could make it I would be more than happy to have you in the game. @Kit and @BreakingBrett I would be more than happy to have you both in the game, let me know if Wednesdays are good for you or if not maybe Tuesday or Thursday would work for us all.  While my ideal party size is between 3 and 6 players I have run games for 2, and even solo ones in the past (though not on Roll20).  It would certainly give you a chance to learn quickly and see if you like the style of the game.  As both of you are new to 4th edition I think it is probably best if I were to do pregenerated characters for you, I can get a few ready for you to chose from, or if you have any ideas of roughly what you want to play I can see what I can come up with that might suit you.  As it is a homebrew world there are a few restriction on race and class but there are also a few more unusual options added in.
Looks like I have interest from one of my WoW guildies so that may be my 3rd player sorted.  His prefered day is Tuesday, so if other are happy with Tuesday we can settle for that.
Hello, Oenanthe. No problem. That’s what comes from having small window of availability.  I hope the game goes well.
It seems like i have 4 people interest in the game, so the current plan is to start running it on a Tuesday afternoon between 1.00 and 4.00 GMT (the end time may change a little depend on how things are going each session) starting on 17th November.  The first session will of course probably be confined to character choice and generation if you don't like any of the sample characters I intend to create.  After that I hope to run it once a week in that time slot, although I am willing to make the occassional change to accomodate mine and my player's lives outside of the game. Let me know if that is fits in with what you all were expecting. As soon as I've got a little more done on the game in preparation I will send you all the invite as a private message. The game is still open should anyone else be interested in joining in.
