1st Edition AD&D extreme "old school" play with little to no house rules...LFP (have two already, three counting DM.) ...don't worry about access to content, I have more 1st edition source material then a show dog can jump over... ...so... Its possible with smart play and good play for players to advance characters through all the classic modules: Steading of the Hill Giant Chief Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Hall of the Fire Giant King Tomb of Horrors White Plume Mountain Expedition to the Barrier Peaks Egg of the Phoenix Ravenloft Slave Pits of the Undercity Secret of the Slavers Stockade Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords The Village of Hommlet Against the Cult of the Reptile God But more importantly which every modules we play or get through they will all be tied together with an overarching campaign. Based on replies I will provide more details.
Any idea when this would happen?
I might be interested in this depending on the details...starting with the when.
would love to do this want to play those modules that i never got a chance too
When? I'm willing to go Old School to get a chance to play
NEver played the first edition, but I'm sooo game.
If you don't mind having someone that's new to pen and paper rp, and new to roll20, then I'd also be interested in more details. I'd love to try out the older D&D versions. And since I've never had the chance to go through the old stuff back in the day, all those modules are still "new" to me.
I definitely might be interested depending on time.
Sounds good! What time do you plan to run it? I am from Gmt+1 time zone. Hope you don't mind a newbie in your group.
I'm so in! Would love busting out my old 1st edition books.

So... Looking into playing every other Sunday (still working to agree on a time) and caring for all the overhead through the two weeks in between (me spending time with the players... so when we play, all the questions and such are worked out in advance.) Character development is really important to me as a DM. What I mean by this is: What class do you want to play? What is your long term vision for the character... What is your ambition? I will work to co-create with you a back story and sketch out a likely path your character could take....maybe...likely be stuff from the monster manual in the way... I really want to get a group that clicks... Not just for me but for you also. I am generally free at 5:30 Eastern time to talk for an hours so M-F. If you are interested in getting some time to talk through things and get a sense of each other. Send me a note at: baldar.silveraxe@gmail.com (<- my old School dwarven fighters name... couldn't resist.)

I would enjoy playing the party's swiss-army cleric. Shall we?

So... we have begun playing a classic 1st level module (I wont say which to avoid pesky players downloading PDFs) We were planning to play every other Sunday however zeal has gotten the better of us. Not much has been missed... limited investigation of the village, the general sense something evil is at work and one encounter that nearly ended the ambitions of a paladin. Play resumes tonight at 5:00PM eastern
I am fairly new, but I would love to join. I'll fill any position you want me to.

I don't mind new players... . we have a forum (nothing to be proud of) to assist new players with access to rules/content and to help keep things straight. Currently the group (Fighter elf, possibly multiclass and an "Unearthed Arcana" Paladin) are in the village of a classic module and have had only two combat encounters. The struggle for these two is this particular module's villain wont wait passively for a party to arrive. So they are are in over their heads, down hit points and only have the standard one hit point a day recovery and Paladin's ability to lay hands to heal them (2 hits points at first level.) So you haven't missed much and I am certain help would be welcome, by the players at least (the module's villain wont welcome you with open arms.) There more than a few players interested in playing.... Dwarven Cleric.... Human ranger.... and others... However schedules have just not yet algined.... so the Elf and the Paladin teeter on the edge of defeat... which I am fine with. Why? Because the Paladin has been trying to shake the every copper piece out of me through every role-play exchange and is always flashing his "Coat of Arms" to each and every NPC vender like its a "Sam"s Club" membership card. I need that character killed and the player can re-roll a half-orc fighter with the intelligence of 3 so I will no longer have to haggle the price of a 50' rope. But seriously, reach out to me by email... and play what you WANT to play ... If the party lives... henchmen, hirelings and followers can fill the class gaps. We will be playing tonight at 6:30 Eastern... and email earlier than that if you can. baldar.silveraxe@gmail.com
I'd love to join in. I've got a pretty open schedule and a set of 1e rulebooks on my shelf. Specifically I'm interested in playing a thief or possibly one of the multiclasses like fighter/thief or thief/illusionist. Anyway, I'd love to drop in and join the adventure.
Can't play but good to see a fellow old schooler out there. Thanks!

About 60% through the N1 "Against the Cult of the Reptile God" .... ... the party has the village cleared, safe and secure. Two players are able to level and the party is taking a 1 week break to allow them to train, level and return..... after that its time to confront the " Reptile God" deep in it's dungeon lair. .... at the end of this module most of the party will still be level one (but almost level two) with only few at level two. ... so this group is still very much at the beginning of things.
