The continent of Nitosko is a dangerous land with deep history. For the last couple thousand years, civilizations have been building atop old ruins and fighting to take hold of and tame these lands. Despite their efforts, it is dangerous to stray far from the roads or wander into the wrong lands. Alliances are held together via trade and treaties, though each city and their settlements are always vying for more power. This is the main setting for Bane of the Ancients campaigns. This is a free game, though GM isn’t going to turn down tips. Weekly games every Saturday at 5:30pm PST (sign on at least 15 minutes early). Sessions are usually longer than the typical 4-hours, lasting closer to 7 hours. - We are looking for players interested and willing to commit to a long-running campaign and build a community. - We encourage cooperative gameplay and open communication. - We discourage PVP and adversarial behavior. - Must have good and reliable internet, clear mic, and working webcam. - Game is run via Roll20 and we use Discord video and voice in tandem. - Sessions will be live-streamed and recorded. We are still dialing this in, but getting better. - Game hub is on the Discord server, so must be willing to engage and communicate via the Discord server regularly. - Missing games is strongly discouraged, but if the main game is canceled for some reason, we have a drop-in side game to pick up in its stead (it’s like grim-dark Pokemon). Players will also sometimes run short-shots or one-shots these days. I have 10+ years of experience with DnD and consider myself a “Pretty okay DM,” and I am always working to improve my craft. You will be expected to describe what your character does, not just roll the dice. That being said, we are all learning and growing together and we are a supportive group. Years of experience playing DnD is not as important as a willingness to learn and good communication. Players are discouraged from keeping plots and plans secret from other players. We should be able to trust each other enough not to metagame and allow everyone to enjoy the story. That being said, your character will have a dark secret that you will do your best to keep from the other players and characters. PCs will use point-buy, start with 2 feats, and have a dark secret. We encourage sticking with more vanilla resources, though we have play-tested 3rd-party materials that may be allowed after discussion with the GM. The GM will work with you on finalizing your character. Game world is heavily influenced by Forgotten Realms, though this is a home-brewed world as will be the campaign. Your classic DnD elements are there, and many elements have been added to the world. Many of these extra elements are under the surface of the world, especially while the PCs are lower-leveled. Heavy influence from grim-dark media including manga, books, movies, anime, video games, etc. Some of my content may disturb you, but it is not distasteful.
