Card deck per player?

Question.  In the game I’m looking at each player is given a standard deck. From the standard deck each player creates a random draw deck of X number of cards.  Then the players draw a hand from the draw deck, and will continue to draw from that deck only. They then play with only their hand, and will have their own discard pile. At some point they must refill their draw pile by recalling their discard pile, any remaining cards from their draw pile and the standard deck and any discards from hand.   Is this possible in Roll20? Making the standard deck isn’t an issue.  It’s the manipulation I’m not sure can be supported. —Tom

I'm squinting to think about the exact details of this. I'll run testing before I can really answer.. in the area of Card Deck Permissions..

This a graphical representation of the process Initial process and Play Card return and re-deal process Then return to Deal and Play One more question, can you see the card count of a deck?  The players must make the decision to take the hit to refill their draw pile, by looking at their card count.

Very helpful diagrams. I am looking into this, volunteer wise. Hopefully some others will jump in and help, decide, explain, figure out workarounds. Current analysis, some of this looks like moves that only a GM or Promoted GM of the game could do (such as, namely, return cards to deck, and possibly reshuffling the deck(s) ). If i'm not wrong about that, either you (the GM? Sometimes called "The Dealer" in card games like poker... or is it GM-less and you're an equal player yourself?), the GM might have to do that move, OR, promote every player to GM so everyone has that ability. Again, I'm still thinking & needing to run some experiments in the tabletop to confirm and fully analyze this. So hopefully I'll be able to reply again if I can discover more about Roll20 Card Decks.

Ugh, another hurdle, the Discard pile, you said each player would have their own discard pile. As far as each Player having their own Draw Deck, that's fine, they can have their own Discard Pile for cards from that deck. The problem I'm thinking comes up, their Hand of cards consist of both Standard Deck + Draw Deck combined, but you need only 1 discard pile per player? I think roll20 does NOT have the ability to mix 2 card decks into 1 discard pile. Each discard pile is associated to the Deck it came from, not to the Player's Hand. Unless I'm wrong. A possible workaround -- MAYBE -- draw a box on the tabletop and call that the "Discard Pile", the players would drag-drop (and turn Face-Down if necessary) the discard cards, into the box, instead of actually technically using the "Discard" feature of roll20. Requires further testing..
Each players standard deck consist of X number of cards, with a specific mix of cards.  Each players standard deck must start with an identical set of cards.   Each players draw deck will be a subset of the standard deck.  So each players draw deck will be different mix. But the source for each draw decks source must be identical.  I’m surprised with games like Magic and such out there that Roll20 doesn’t support player decks.

Tom B. said: I’m surprised with games like Magic and such out there that Roll20 doesn’t support player decks.   Yeah, same. I am hopeful Roll20 will eventually pursue card deck feature expansion in support of not-only-Magic, but any-and-all uses for cards at a tabletop, game system regardless (system agnostic). There are several Suggestions in this suggestions & ideas sub-forum, that would take your Comments and +1.
Thanks for your help I have added this to suggestions.
