Interest Check: ASOIAF RPG [CEST]

Hi everyone! I've been interested in running the A Song of Ice and Fire RPG for a while, and I think it's time to give it a try. Sessions would be weekly, around 7 PM CEST (that's Central European Summer Time, or UTC+2, for those of you who keep track of such things) on a day suitable to the group. The game itself would be fairly open-world within the universe of the books, to the point where I would allow deviations from the book canon. I'm thinking that we would start during Robert's Rebellion and fast-forwarding through that part of the story, then skipping up to the time of the books. Depending on what happens during the "prologue", we could end up with a very different situation in the main story. Maybe Rhaegar holds the throne still, or Ned seized it instead of Robert. Maybe the Mad King is still alive, who knows? We will have to see. Take note that I would not be available for the first few weeks of summer, starting from this Monday up until the 4th. I'm sure many of you are busy during the summer as well, but I figure I'd ask.
I'd definitely be interested in playing a part in this, massive fan of ASOIAF, began reading up on the rules for the RP awhile ago but never quite finished it, but this would be a great opportunity to dive back in. Hope you throw me a PM when it gets running!
I'm always up for playing the game of thrones! A slightly alternate take on things could lead to some interesting gameplay. Definately keep me in mind if you get this game going.
I'd definitely be up for this game if it was during on Saturday or Sunday! Also a huge fan of the books and series, I've got a copy of the rules but never found anyone to play with :( Let me know if you get something going!
Hey again Calle, I'd love to get in on this as long as it doesn't fall on a Thursday. Will we be making our own noble house and get embroiled in noble intrigue and occasionally stab someone in the back (but to their faces, like true knights and ladies) or joust someone in the face? Or will be standard-issue fantasy adventurers bouncing about in the Seven Kingdoms who will probably resort to random muggings and a GTA-attitude towards horses due to a lack of goblins (although can I consider Jaime Lannister to be a goblin? I feel like he's a goblin on the inside, where it counts)?

Hi Tal! Thursdays would not be an option, no; I'll be running another game at that time. Depends on how the group wants to play. Maybe you're sellswords during the Rebellion that end up playing a pivotal role in one of the battles and end up knighted, similar to how Bronn's story pans out. We'll talk about it once I get the game going. Still need to read all the rulebooks.
Excellent. I'd cast my vote for being members of a noble house (the game is really better for something like that) , though I have no problem rolling with whatever the group as a whole prefers. We'll talk when we'll talk, I suppose. Let me know if you'd like help with grasping the system, I know the game pretty well.
I'd definitely be interested, I'm good for most days, just not Saturdays.
Well, I feel dumb, Saturday would work best for me, as my game starts at 9pm, and this would be at 10am
But, will this be text based or will we use voice?

This would not be on Saturdays, I can assure you that. It would probably be a combination of both. Voice would be the main means of communication, but you can use text if you want.

I'd be super interested in getting the chance to play SIFRP, have had the book for a couple months now, and only get a very limited chance to play it at present. Would love to get involved in a weekly group, one way or another, so I'm definitely putting my hat in the ring should you choose to bring me along for the ride. =] Let me know, and I'll hopefully be able to make the time work for me!

I've been reading into a lot of new RPGs and SIFRP is definitely on the list of ones I would really like to play. If you're still looking for players, throw me a PM with some specifics once you have some.

Well, looks like there's definitely some interest! As it turns out, my vacation is going to be a little bit longer than anticipated, so we'd be starting some weeks after the 4th at the earliest. Good to hear there's so many interested people, though! I also have three other people who have expressed interest elsewhere, which makes ten people so far - a bit larger than what I usually run.
TEN players!? I... Don't think that can work with that many people - not if we want to have any amount of quality roleplaying, at all. My personal rule of thumb is to cap it at 5 (I find that 5 players are the absolute maximum I can handle as a GM without the game devolving completely), though if you feel you can do more players then alright - but I think 10 players is way too many. Even so, you're gonna have to say no to some people or split it to two groups, if you ask me. 10 people is an insane amount of stuff to keep track of, and that's 10 people who will all expect the spotlight. If some of those are voice-users while others are limited to text - it'll be chaos... total chaos ... I strongly advise for you to narrow the number of players down.

Yeah, splitting into two groups is definitely something I've been thinking about. That said, this has only been an interest check. Going off experience, there's probably going to be a significant dropoff before we can actually form a group.
