– Half Elf – Pavel – Retired Game Summary for Sunday Evening (11/18/2020): Opening Scene: A lone cleric / magic-user named Pandelume, seeks to put an end
to Horan’s control of the Forbidden City and gain his spellbook and carefully
plots out a plan to do so after a couple of attempts at using the Divination
over two days. It is around 2:30 am when Pandelume, enacts his plan, he bathes
beforehand and cast endure heat so he does not sweat and leave a scent. Wearing
his black robes and softest boots, taking only his dagger, 3 sacks, a backpack
and a belt pouch for his spell components, which are wrapped in wax sealed
burlap, ready for use. Casting two unseen servant spells which last 90 minutes and turning himself
invisible he approaches the compound and this is what is seen: This
walled compound shows signs of recent repair and upkeep. The streets around it
are clear of rubble and undergrowth. This
wall is 15' high, built of large blocks of unmortared stone. The walls are
partially covered with vines. These appear to have been trimmed 3' short of the
top of the wall. There are 3 large gates made of thick heavy timber, bounded by
iron and locked from the inside. The north wall does not have a gate entrance.
There are covered towers to either side of each gate, where guards keep watch. It
takes three tries before his grappling hook catches onto something so he can
pull himself up over the wall and luckily none of the guards heard it clatter
against the stonework. Pandelume then successfully climbs up over the wall. He
then quietly gathers his climbing rope and places it in a sack. Seeing
that there is a structure in the north west corner, Pandelume lowers himself
onto it’s roof, which is about 5 feet lower than the outer wall. He then
dangles himself over the side and drops down about 4 feet to the ground. He
sees that there are two sleeping bullywugs in hammocks in the structure he just
climbed down from and leaves them alone. He creeps his way slowly to where his
divination revealed a bedroom with a spellbook. Seeing
that the walls of Horan’s house consisted of wooden slats and shutters, he
first puts his ears to the shutter to hear inside but nothing is to be heard. Now Pandelume casts a silence 15ft radius spell at a point that encompasses the spellbook
area and the bed. He instructs the
unseen servant to pull a certain finger based on what he sees; his index finger
if Horan is facing the outside wall where he is, or his middle finger if facing
away, or his ring finger if he is sleeping face down or straight up. The unseen
servant slips between the shutters. Horan’s bedroom is
elegantly furnished with a bed (the frame is inlaid with shells and ornamental
stones), A small table,
several silken cushions and two scroll paintings. On a stand resting near the
door to the outside is Horan's large gold-bound spellbook. On it’s return to
Pandelume the unseen servant pulls his ring finger. He enters the bedroom
through it’s door off the porch, after he had pulled out his specially prepared
rope with four loops, that will tighten with a single pull around Horan’s
wrists, with one end around a bed post. Once inside he goes over to the sleeping Horan
and has his unseen servants place the rope to one post then slips it over both
wrists, which tightens as they loops the other end to the opposite bed post.
Horan stays asleep the whole time. He has an unseen servant retrieve the spell book
for him then he places it in a sack, which then is placed into his backpack.
The two scroll paintings and a platinum key with an orange tassel that was
sitting next to the spellbook is also taken as is a dagger, a vial and bracers
that were sitting on an endtable. Pandelume, proceeds to slit Horan’s throat and
lets him exsanguinate out while he searched the
room for any secret door in the walls and flooring but did not find one. Once
done he cuts off Horan’s head and places it in the other sack. He goes to the door door and opens it a crack as he lets the
unseen servants look around the room. They are to pull his index finger if the
room is empty of sentients or animals or his middle finger if the room has a
living creature inside. A short time later, his Index finger is pulled. Pandelume, enters what is now a hallway with a sliding door at
it’s end to the east and another on the south wall and north wall. He moves to
the south door. He gives the unseen servants similar command but reversed. His
index finger is this time indicating there is someone in the room. Thinking the bracers to be magical he puts them on to no ill
effect. He has the unseen servants go back into the room, and this time
it’s to see if what is inside is facing the door or not. His index finger is
pulled so what is inside is facing the door. Pandelume, enters the new bedroom, it’s occupant also sleeping
in the nude. In
the room are a pallet, several cushions and a small shelf with several small
vials, statuettes, ceremonial daggers and old scrolls, there is also a large
chest with several small drawers. There is a wand on a shelf. There is a ring
on the girl’s left ring finger. He goes over to the girl and places his hand
over her mouth and slits her throat, takes the ring and pulls the covers over
her. He
takes the wand and places it in his backpack. Pandelume,
takes the platinum key and places it in the chest keyhole but it is too small
for the lock. He
casts a silence 15 ft radius spell, lefts up the chest and drops it to the
floor, taking two tries before it cracks open enough to pry apart and get the
contents inside which turn out to be jewelry and in the bottom drawer a Kwairno’s
spellbook! Pandelume bags it all. He
now stuffs all 3 sacks into his leather backpack and casts Invisibility upon
himself and sneaks back out the way he came in. No one nearby hears the
grappling hook cling against the shed roof, so he pulls himself up then clambers
up onto the wall’s walkway between two of the guards, placing the grappling
hook quietly into position then climbs down the outer side of the wall. Pandelume
makes his way to the mongrelman compound, buys a cart and an iron chest, places
the stuff from Horan’s compound in it and cast wizard lock upon it’s lock. Over
a couple days he casts dispel magic on both spell books then proceeded to open
each one with his 10 ft pole. If they were magically trapped the trap did not
activate and he was able to read the contents! 3
days later, after having met the adventure party in the mongrelmen compound,
they all head for the bugbear compound in the Forbidden City. Once there, after
discussing how to enter the place, Pandelume decides to cast his new found,
Wizard Eye spell to have a look into the compound. It is now: 6:30 am on September 5 th (Day 39 on the
