Keeton
B.: Are we at the most defended
entrance? Devin
M.: Olo. Dungeon
Master (GM): well as far as you currently know,
one entrance has children playing around, one has at least 3 male bugbears
standing around and one appears to be not guarded. You can of course go around the
entire compound if you wish, at the risk of drawing suspicion. Keeton
B.: I'd rather just use my wizard eye to
search the center
Pandelume the Lama / Sorcerer, using
a bit of bat fur, casts the WIZARD EYE Spell!
Level 4 Magic-User * Alteration
Components
V,S,M
Casting Time
1 Turn
Range
0
Duration
1 round/level: 9 rounds
Area of Effect
Special
Saving Throw
None
Effects: When this spell is employed,
the magic-user creates an invisible sensory organ which sends visual
information to him or her. The wizard eye travels at 30 ft per round,
viewing an area ahead as a human would or 10 ft per round
examining the ceiling and walls as well as the floor ahead and casually
viewing the walls ahead. The wizard eye can “see” with infravision at 10 ft, or it
“sees” up to 60 ft distant in brightly lit
areas. The wizard eye can travel in any direction as long as the spell lasts.
It has substance and a form that can be detected (by a detect invisibility
spell, for instance). Solid barriers prevent the passage of a wizard eye,
although it can pass through a space no smaller than a small mouse hole (1
inch in diameter).
Using the eye requires the wizard to concentrate. However, if
his concentration is broken, the spell does not end—the eye
merely becomes inert until the wizard again concentrates, subject to the
duration of the spell. The powers of the eye cannot be enhanced by other
spells or items. The caster is subject to any gaze attack met by the eye. A
successful dispel cast on the wizard or eye ends the spell. With respect to
blindness, magical darkness, and so on, the wizard eye is considered an
independent sensory organ of the caster.
Lo
Shan: go ahead and do it less time we
spend standing around the better Dungeon
Master (GM): ok use the Pandelume token as the
wizard eye ok, you can move it again Keeton
B.: ok
Lo Shan The Human Monk (Oriental)
Says,
"What is it you are looking for with your magic?"
Pandelume The Grey Elf Magic-User
Says,
"They must have a leader; we must always aim for the head."
Dungeon
Master (GM): a mongrelman, you don't know yet if
he's there on business or a slave or whatever
Lo Shan The Human Monk (Oriental)
Says,
"Perhaps you should also try to get a rough idea of their numbers if
possible?"
Keeton
B.:
Pandelume The Grey Elf Magic-User
Says,
"If I had to guess, there must be less than 30-40 of them based on what
I'm seeing..."
Pandelume The Grey Elf Magic-User
Says,
"By the Sage, there's so many of them..."
Dungeon
Master (GM): there is what looks like a throne
here to your west and what looks like a bed for a pet. None of the bugbears you currently
see stand out as a possible leader type, just grunts, females, kids and
mongrelmen around
Pandelume The Grey Elf Magic-User
Says,
"I see a throne; I must be in the right place. There's about a dozen
others in this clearing alone."
Pandelume The Grey Elf Magic-User
Says,
"But what are the Mongrelmen doing here?"
Lo Shan The Human Monk (Oriental)
Says,
"Perhaps we need to ask their King that question"
Keeton
B.: I moved North Devin
M.: Maybe the mongrelmen are the nub
negotiators that Sheila wanted. I think it was Shiela anyway. Lo
Shan: Yes Maybe Keeton
B.: Devin I hope you loaded up on
fireballs Xilicien: I don't know fireball. Lo
Shan: What spells do you have right now? Xilicien: I have web and confusion for crowd control. Lo
Shan: Those are good Dungeon
Master (GM): ok the location where Pandelume is
now looks like: Xilicien: A few magic missile and Melf's minute meteors. *missiles Dungeon
Master (GM): ok, no description in the book so
what it appears to be to you is like a place where a witchdoctor would hang out
in but there is currently no one
around. other than the nearby kids with an
adult Lo
Shan: so they have a throne and a shaman,
throne maybe for visits by Horan, that or a leader with attitude Keeton
B.: any time left on the eye? Dungeon
Master (GM): it would last you 9 minutes which is pretty much up Keeton
B.: ok Lo
Shan: how about this we try walking in and
asking questions? Keeton
B.: Ok. Xilicien: Or perhaps some of us go in and ask questions and some of us
go part way , but wait outside. Preferably the more least dangerous
looking of us would go inside. Dungeon
Master (GM): so you are volunteering Xil?! ;p
Lo
Shan: we try going in asking where or who
is their leader we want to try to work out a trade deal?
