Weekly Gaming Summary #33 (11/29/2020):

Paladin Knight – Human – Lord Cromther - cromth     Game Summary for Sunday Evening (11/29/2020): [Note: An old glitch has returned on Roll20 where player’s input lines and die roll and attack macros no longer show in the chat archive. So I do my best at piecing together what happened.]   Opening Scene: It is now: 6:30 am on September 5 th (Day 39 on the Isle of Dread).   The party is near the bugbear compound in the Forbidden City (Thracia), debating on which entrance to proceed into when Pandelume reaches into his spell components pouch and pulls out bat fur wrapped in waxed burlap and decides to cast his new found Wizard Eye spell to have a closer look inside of the compound. The spell will last for 9 minutes.   Among, the things seen in the compound are Bugbear guards at various entrances, sections where families dwell and children play, a main area where a throne sits, along with a bed for a pet and an area that is obviously used by a witchdoctor.   The party goes into the south east entrance where bugbear children are playing as an adult male watches nearby and one child converses with them until the adult bugbear comes over to chat. They learn that the bugbear leader, know simply as The Boss and the Shaman Shruzgrap are not in the compound but likely at Shruzgrap’s place just north of the Temple of Set.   When they get to the place, and knock on a double door, a guard inside says, “Go Away, we’re busy”!. They are having a meeting with a Yuan-ti inside.   Lo Shan attempts to pick the lock on the door and was successful rolling a 26% needing ≤ 52%.   When Lo Shan opens the door, two wide eyed bugbear guards take a defensive stance, glaring menacingly at them.   Pandelume, pulls out a couple gems to offer the guards but they refuse the offer saying, “Nice gems, but we no take. What is your business here or do you need to see the sharp point of a blade to leave?” The party tells them they are on a mission.   Through the doorway behind the guards can be seen at least one other guard and a really tall bugbear in fancy dress with a big wart hog nearby, along with what looks like a shaman and yaun-ti.   Combat Round #01 begins after Initiative rolls are made: (Only the Hits and spells casts are shown)   The Yaun-Ti casts a darkness spell in a 15 ft square block at the front entrance!   Xilicien, pulls out a set of 3 nutshells and casts the confusion spell hoping it affects the two guards at the entrance in spite of them being in the dark and both fail their saving throw vs spell and are confused causing one to wander off the other to simply stand there confused.   Pandelume, pulls out some sulphur and a tiny ball of bat guano and cast the fireball into the room. Because of the magical darkness in front of the door, his aim is a bit off by a few feet but it still hits his intended targets! The full fire damage is 34 hit points. The wart hot, The Boss and the Yaun-Ti only took 17 damage because they made their saves while Shruzgrap,  and two veteran bugbear guards took the full damage!   The fireball kills the two veteran bugbears, the wart hog and Shruzgrap!   Lo Shan runs through the darkness which disorenants him having him turn north eastward after bumping into the confused guard that is wandering off!   Bugbear #03, continues to wander off confused moving out of the magical darkness to the north.   Bugbear #8, stands confused still after failing a saving throw vs spell.   Lord Cromther, slashes Bugbear #10 for 7 damage with the long sword (double specialized)!     Round #02 of Combat! Zhora, tries to run in but the disorientation has her running back outside!   Maxmillian, runs inside and the darkness sends him going north west out of it, he strikes Bugbear #10 for 6 damage with the long sword!   Pandelume, tries something by closing his eyes and walking 20 strides through the darkness to try to stay straight through and apparently it works!   Lo Shan, uses his Iron Fist attack to pound Bugbear #10 for 7 damage, defeating him!   Bugbear #09 continues to wander off.   Bugbear #08, makes his save vs the continued effect of the confusion spell, so he snaps out of it!   Lord Cromther, slashes Bugbear #02 for 4 damage with the long sword!     Round #03 of Combat!   Pandelume, casts the fireball spell again dealing 34 damage. The Boss takes the full damage, defeating him! The Yuan Ti Half-blood and Bugbear #03 take half damage but this still defeats Bugbear #03!   Bugbear #05, slashes Lord Cromther for 4 damage with the long sword!   Bugbear #04, slashes Lo Shan for 5 damage with the long sword!   Camlin, runs through the darkness, winding up next to Lo Shan!   Zhora, attempts to run inside again, this time she ends up bumping into Camlin and a dead bugbear!   Xillicien, casts the magic missiles spell at the bugbears, for 4, 5, 2, 3 damage, which sends the Yuan-Ti half-blood dropping to the floor defeated!   Maximillian, flanks Bugbear #02 and slashes him for 7 damage, defeating him!   Pandelume, cast the Magic Missiles at Bugbear #08, for 19 total damage defeating him!   Lord Cromther, slashes Bugbear #05 for 7 damage with the long sword!     Round #04 of Combat! Camlin, fires his magical Foeseeker +1 long bow at Bugbear #01, hitting for 7 piercing damage!   Zhora, slashes, Bugbear #01 for 10 damage with the two-handed sword, defeating him!   Xilician, casts the magic missile spell for 3, 2, 3, 4 damage to Bugbears, 4, 5, 7 & 9!   Maximillian, hits Bugbear #07 for 12 slashing damage with the long sword!   Pandelume, casts the magic missile spell for 5, 5, 5, 4 & 2 damage at Bugbears #07 & #09 defeating them both!   Bugbear #08, hits Xilicien with his footman’s mace for 5 slashing damage!   Lord Cromther, Hits Bugbear #05 for 5 slashing damage with his long sword, defeating him!       2 nd attacks: None hit   3 rd attacks: Camlin’s arrow hits Bugbear #04 for 5 damage, defeating him!     Round #05 of Combat! Zhora, hits Bugbear #08 for  17 slashing damage with the two-handed sword, defeating him!   End of combat!   Searching the bodies and buildings found at 500 gp in sacks and a scroll that no one in the party can read. The Boss is wearing a jeweled head band. Shruzgrap’s weapons were a footman’s flail and throwing axe.   Pandelume scans the building with the detect magic spell. The newfound sword, ring and scroll glow in a magical aura.  After that he cuts off the heads of The Boss, Shruzgrap and the Yuan-ti Half-blood.

Pandelume casts Cure Light Wounds upon Lo Shan for 5 hp and Xilicien for 8 hp. A cure serious wounds is cast upon Camlin, healing back 11 hp.   A day later, Pandelume, goes to the main market street in the Forbidden City to try and sell the scroll paintings that were hanging at the head of Horan’s bed.   He shows the merchant man the scrolls and then Horan’s head in a sack he’s carrying and the merchantman freaks out, eyes going wide! Others nearby see Horan’s head and guards are called.   Pandelume, gathers the scrolls, casts invisibility upon himself and runs off, eventually heading back to the mongrelman compound.   Once there Pandelume, demands tribute from the mongrelmen, pulling out Horan’s head telling them to bring all their greatest shiny things so that he may pick 3 shiny things or gold if they are lacking.
