[LFP][D&D5e][Free][Sat][6pm EST] New group looking for 2-3 New or gently Used players

Edited 1607203880
Hey guys, This post is for recruiting Players (and Player/DMs) for long-term campaigning, role playing, and epic adventuring! We would be a D&D5e/Roll20 group that would play every Saturday at 6pm-10pm EST. The basic idea is to form a group of 5-6 people with at least 2 people who could DM. Two DMs would run two separate games/campaigns, on an alternating schedule, about every 2 weeks or so (i.e., I would run one campaign for two weeks, then another DM would run another game for two weeks). If there are enough player/DMs or interest in becoming one, the DMing could run round-robin style between the players, but if you do not want to DM that is fine as well. This approach allows everyone a chance to play and experience different styles of DMing. My D&D background includes over a decade of TTRPG experience, although mostly in 1st & 2nd ed. and many years ago. For just over the last 3.5 years I've been playing 5e and gaming on Roll20, almost exclusively as DM.   I tend to run a challenging game, so players who know or learn the importance or planning, strategy, and knowing thine enemy will fare better. I invest heavily in my games, spending a good amount of effort and energy setting up encounters, weaving storylines, and setting up killer themed soundtracks. Goals for our group members : ·        Be Proactive in our communication and how we play the game. Be enthusiastic and seek to facilitate connections with others. ·       Be Engaged, taking the plots and settings fairly seriously, looking for ways to incorporate our characters into storylines, finding reasons why our characters would do something that progresses the story, and don’t try to undermine or negate. ·       Be Committed to making the game better. We show up on time, prepared and ready to play. We seek to be helpful and supportive. ·       Be cooperative, interactive, and supportive with a drive towards collaborative storytelling. ·       Be interested in games with different foci or with varying combinations of foci (i.e., Roleplay/Social, tactical Combat, and Exploration). If you are only interested in roleplay heavy games, this will likely not meet your needs. Given the variability in the DMing styles and games played, those interested should be flexible in their play style and capable of having fun in different settings. *Group members have an equal voice; The DM has final say in all matters during (their) game play. * Rules Lawyers need not apply .   *If you are interested, please take a moment to tell us something about yourself below or send me a direct message.   Name: Pronouns: Age: Timezone:   How long have you been playing D&D? .   How long have you used roll20?   What are your pet peeves? Name: Grady Pronouns: He/Him/Hey you. Age: 53 Timezone: CST   How long have you been playing D&D? 40 yrs.   How long have you used roll20? 8-9 months (My IRL group is social distancing.)   What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) Poorly designed house rules made by DMs who don't understand how the game works.   What do you love about D&D? Self-expression, whether it's creating a new character, a background story, or role-playing, or designing an entire homebrewed campaign setting.   Tell me about yourself. I'm a jack of all trades who's worked/traveled all over. In my spare time I'm an amateur writer/game designer. I'm currently DM-ing a weekly campaign with an original setting. I might get it published in a year or two.   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? I enjoy running a game weekly, but I'd like the opportunity to be a player as well. I'd also enjoy seeing how others DM run 5E; I've been in a few long-term groups since 5E came out, so I've only seen how a few other DM's run their games.   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) I enjoy role-playing and combat equally. I'm not crazy about dungeon crawls. Urban and intrigue filled games are my favorite. Pirate campaigns are awesome. What types of characters do you like to play? I like to play versatile characters who aren't over-specialized. I prefer "face" characters who are good in social situations, spellcasters, who can also handle themselves in combat. (Swords Bards, BladeLocks) I also like "support" characters who can help the other members of the group. There aren't a lot of classes who can do all of this, so I usually pick whatever the group needs most and play that. I'm comfortable with almost any type of character. What interests you the most about this opportunity? Meeting a new group, trying out a new character I've never played before, and going on a new D&D adventure. (Or two!) What hesitations do you have about this group? I'm not sure how well the "rotating DM" format will work out, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I hope you find two people who can DM aside from myself; my hands are already full running a weekly game. (Tomorrow is week 30!)
Name: Jojo Pronouns: she/her Age: 28 Timezone: CST   How long have you been playing D&D? 6 months   How long have you used roll20? 6 months   What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) Players not being committed   What do you love about D&D? Storyline, teamwork, combats   Tell me about yourself.  (sense of humor, personality, anything you're comfortable sharing.) I'm still learning English, but I'm not terrible at communicating.   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? having fun, feeling engaged   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) roleplaying and chill, and work together in combats What types of characters do you like to play? I've played a halfling cleric and it was a rather serious character. What interests you the most about this opportunity? Interacting with people and feeling involved What hesitations do you have about this group? Dnd groups tend to not exist long or things fall apart due to personal issues
We are still accepting applications!

(D&D related) groups falling apart, people being rule obsessed, bossy "party leaders", railroading, in fighting   What do you love about D&D? Exploring fantasy worlds    Tell me about yourself.   Even though I've played before i still consider myself a new player, kind of a shy quiet type out of game, general weeb and video game nerd. Also important note is i have a memory problem.   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? A reliable and long term group   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) Love Dungeon crawls and combat, but I'm down to try anything What types of characters do you like to play? Usually some kind of blaster caster What interests you the most about this opportunity? Having a second rpg to look forward to What hesitations do you have about this group? Will be the first time playing with strangers.
Heads up! Some private messages have been sent. Please check your Inbox if you are still interested and available.
Name: Dean Pronouns: he Age: 32 Timezone: est   How long have you been playing D&D? . Played on and off as a kid and recently got back into it.   How long have you used roll20? Pretty familiar with roll20, used it a few years back to host a text based game.   What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) A game cut short or not played when scheduled.   What do you love about D&D? Character building, combat, strategy, puzzle solving, exploring.   Tell me about yourself. I'm generally a quiet person, a speak when spoken to type i guess you could say, I warm up when i get used to you. I enjoy rpgs of all kind, table top games, anything Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms. I like to have a good time playing games i love.   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? I am looking for a laid back atmosphere with easy going people to play this great game. From the games i am looking for a chance to have fun in whatever setting that may be.   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) I grew up playing 2nd ed. so the mighty dungeon crawl and combat are probably my favorite. What types of characters do you like to play? rogues, rangers, fighters, and wizards are the main ones i go for. What interests you the most about this opportunity? It is a chance to play D&D, and I like the idea of having multiple DM styles at work. What hesitations do you have about this group? I'm not much interested in being a DM meself.
Yo! Don't know if you're still looking for players, but if so: Name: Gwyn/Wulfes Pronouns: They/Them Age: 30 Timezone:  CST   How long have you been playing D&D? My first game was age 10, and have been playing off and on through AD&D, 3/3.5, Pathfinder, 4, and 5e since, mostly as a DM.   How long have you used roll20? ~6 years on and off   What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) Roleplaying in character and addressing the party/making plans and getting *cricket noises* in response. Players who have no problem with sacrificing the enjoyment of the rest of the group for their own amusement. Lone wolves who make characters that have to be heavily convinced to do even the smallest task.     What do you love about D&D? The stories! Exploring the world the DM has created through the lens of my character and the group. Seeing how the various backstories of the other characters unfold and create Consequences. Seeing players genuinely interested in the other characters in the group just as much as their own.   Tell me about yourself.  (sense of humor, personality, anything you're comfortable sharing.)   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? A fun collaborative experience where players and DM build a narrative that intertwines characters with the world they're in. Preferably not super grim-dark.     What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) I really enjoy RP, usually do some kind of character voice, but also enjoy combat and dungeoneering ! What types of characters do you like to play? I have enjoyed a decent range of characters over the years, from the brooding ranger looking to avenge their murdered family, to a whimsical kobold archaeologist with an obsession for crystals.  What interests you the most about this opportunity? Having the chance to embark on a new story with some interesting people! What hesitations do you have about this group? Hmm. I have found a lot of D&D folks, once we reach a certain age, get set in our ways and inflexible to new ways of thinking and start to view change as bad. Not saying that's you specifically, it's just a problem I have noticed in the community in general. ex.The backlash from certain groups about eliminating racial determinism and making 'monster' races more than just loot/exp piñatas. That " a challenging game" winds up being code for a gritty grim dark meat grinder of a game.
Name: Patrick  Pronouns: He/Him Age: 36 Timezone: EST How long have you been playing D&D? Off and on for 12 years (two major years long campaigns and a bunch of shorter stuff)  How long have you used roll20? 2± years What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) Taking forever to make a decision. Murder hobos.  What do you love about D&D? The idea that the entire group, including the dm, is engaged in collaborative storytelling. Tell me about yourself. (sense of humor, personality, anything you're comfortable sharing.) People really do seem to think I'm genuinely funny, if dry sarcasm is your thing. I'm a father of two currently taking care of the rugrats as my day job. I emote better in d&d than in life, but I find a balance between rp and combat to be the most fun. The thing I struggle with is that I'm always looking at the next fun thing I can do with my PC, and what I'll do when I level up, and what I want my next character to be.  What are you looking for from the group and from the games? I want to feel that the whole group is involved. Some of most entertaining interactions have been through interpersonal conflict, and my least entertaining have been when it bleeds into the relationships between the actual players.   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) I like it all, but I'd get bored with a hack n slash campaign. Non-combat spells and abilities should be used way more often than they usually are.  What types of characters do you like to play? I'm drawn to outsiders for some reason.  What interests you the most about this opportunity? I play a game on Mondays and immediately feel like I can't believe I have to wait a week to play d&d again when the session ends.  What hesitations do you have about this group? That the pace of the dialog will be too slow. I'm fine with the narrative taking as long as is needed to do the story justice, but I prefer a more improv theater style of not worrying about being perfect if it means we can stay in the moment.
Name: Jorge Pronouns: he Age: 37 Timezone: mostly EST   How long have you been playing D&D? . A few years now (5ish) How long have you used roll20? I've used it once in the past but I might need a bit of couching. (I'm a quick learner)   What are your pet peeves? (D&D related) When the session is purely focus on battle.   What do you love about D&D? The freedom to explore new lands and experience adventures full of laugher and excitement . Tell me about yourself.  (sense of humor, personality, anything you're comfortable sharing.) I considered my self a team player and I think I have a good sense of humor. I love languages.   What are you looking for from the group and from the games? From the group, I like getting to know other people and that feeling of friendship you get when you play with some people for some time. and from the game, I love the adventure and to use my imagination to overcome dificulties.   What is your play(er) style? (Like to rp? Prefer to roll dice and chill? Down to Dungeon crawl?) Combat is fun but I like seeing my character grow and I also like to have an impact in the world that my character is in. What types of characters do you like to play? from the storyline I like playing humble characters, and for the mechanics I was thinking about trying out a bard or a fighter. What interests you the most about this opportunity? The chance to get into a group and enjoy DnD once more. What hesitations do you have about this group? Not many really, The usual I guess, that things that happen in-game should stay in-game.
