Hello, lovely folks!  My name's Brandon, and I'm the pro-DM behind Scarecrow Tabletop Storytelling, an endeavor I'm utilizing to make my dreams of doing something I love so I don't hate my day to day grind happen. And what is it I love? Why, making and telling stories for and with folks. So with that in mind, I ask you; how can I help facilitate your stories? (At least, in context of D&D 5e.) So, to begin with; me. I'm a passionate lore-junky, who prefers heavy roleplay to a combat encounter any day; I love when players take initiative and talk amongst themselves and work through their characters emotional trauma I usually had a hand in inflicting. I love introducing NPCs that feel solid, and give my players reasons to discuss them, and make art of them, and form bonds with them. But, these games do thrive on conflict, so I do also enjoy unusual and different encounters. I reward creative thinking, and perseverance even when the odds seem stacked against you. I will always root for my PCs, but I try not to hold their hands, and enjoy those encounters where things get difficult- not from large numbers specifically, but from moments where the encounter's unique... assets really shine. And I love big, complex, phased bosses. Additionally, I am LGBTQIA+ friendly, and will request and enforce pronouns, as I want everyone comfortable and enjoying themselves as much as possible. I am ALSO quite fond of getting players who are less experienced, as I enjoy teaching the game, and am quite patient. Now, to what I'm offering. My current availability is as follows: (Times presented in EST)     • Sundays 7-10 PM Start Time     • Mondays 6-9 PM (That window)     • Wednesday 6-9 PM Start Time       • Friday 6-9 PM Start Time All sessions are slated for 3 hour time slots. OCCASIONALLY I might go over, to get to a wrap up, but I do not make a habit of it. Current Campaigns , ready to fire, are as follows:     • Elements of Khyber , an Eberron game that does not focus on the Mourning, but instead another big Dragon Prophecy.     • Great-Wyrm Stirring , Tyranny of Dragons but with Icespire Peak in place of Horde of the Dragon Queen.     • Best Left Dark , Rime of the Frostmaiden with some things best left...well, in the dark.     •   The Rewards of Ambition , my pride and joy; a completely homebrewed campaign, set in a world of my creation. It definitely is the most passionately worked on of my campaign projects, and it does have a lot of lore to it, though I promise it needn't be known completely in the beginning. I have document primers, and I have a history of easing folks in with just what their characters would know. It's a planar locked world where gods aren't rare to see walking the land, as they all once were mortal... and got their power from items, that can be seized.   Additionally, I have room for one to two in Shadow Games  my Curse of Strahd game on Thursday nights, from 6-9 PM, if a game already running might be better for you. Character options and such :     • Player's Handbook     •  Xanathar's Guide to Everything     •  Eberron: Rising from the Last War     • Tasha's Cauldron of Everything:  I'm cool with swapping the stats of your race, but not the custom race build.     • Backgrounds from Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Tomb of Annihilation, and Curse of Strahd.     • Races from Volo's Guide, Mordenkainen, Tomb of Annihilation, and Dungeon Master's Guide. Tortle, Grung, and non-flyers. IF         THERE'S  INTEREST, I have considered harpies and medusa PC concepts for Eberron, though harpies would start with slow-fall/glide, not flight.     • For Rewards of Ambition : There is errata on races for that world; most base races are allowed, though some have variations for the world's lore.     Other rules errata     • "Evil" races are not something I do as a whole. Individuals and certain cities may be predisposed to morally unsound things, but no race is "Evil."     • Stats are (Preferably) Point Buy, though if you want to roll, we'll go with the usual 4d6; if the role is less than what Point-Buy would give, then you can swap.     • I use feats. I also allow for some discussion of what ability is being used for a skill. (IE, Str based Intimidation.)     • In the past I've given max HP on level up. I will let the group at large decide amongst themselves. I like the extra hp cause I tend to slug players with hard hitting enemies.     • Nat 20's aren't auto-successes on skills. Nat 1's are likewise not auto-fails on skills. Combat, they are auto-hit or auto-fail. I like fumble options; but will leave that up to group choice. Additionally, character creation will be done at one's leisure up TO two days before the game is to begin, preferably, unless it is a group making together. I will be available to answer questions about your characters Mon-Fri, during hours listed above, and before 8 on Tues, or before 6 on Thurs. Now, beyond that, my rules, while a bit more comprehensive, boils down to RESPECT ONE ANOTHER, MYSELF, and YOURSELF.  I have an open inbox policy for players who have issues with other players, and encourage my players to say something if I don't catch it myself or if I cause discomfort. Likewise, I will ask for triggers to avoid, and expect my players to respect each other enough not to make one another uncomfortable. So basically, no hate-speech, no racism, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or sexist behavior, and we should be fine. Also, please; do not try to pay me for any rerolls. I'm uncomfortable with that; just play the game. And finally, payment.  This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $13 per person, per session, made via Paypal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. The First Session, I offer for a little less than half-off, at $6. Anyways, there it is. I'd love to get started as early as Dec 16, but getting four to five players set up with an agreed schedule is what I need to fire! Feel free to drop a line here, or in my inbox with questions!
