TLDR & Updates Close to a decade of TTRPG experience Heavy Roleplayer, Combat Lover. Ancient History BA Student Avid Writer, Storyteller, and Map-Maker Sessions are 15$ a week, roughly working out to be 5$ an hour for 3 hours and 3$ an hour for 5 hours. We're playing on Saturday at 4PM GMT for 3 to 5 hours. Feel free to apply for other days as I may setup another party. I'm active, engaging, and reliable. (I've never missed a D&D session in 2 years, even when I'm sick!) I welcome players of any skill level, who are tired of lackluster games, or DMs who flake on them. I create terrific systems and tables to improve quality of play, and exciting quests with satisfying conclusions. Update (11th of December): I have 5 players for my new party, who have all made their characters in Session 0. We did have a sixth player, but we are uncertain whether he is actually going to be able to join, as he has been asked to go on a secondment to another region. We're looking for a sixth player who can fill in and join the fun, hopefully making a character and joining the adventure either this week or next. We haven't started from the point that this update is set. If you're reading this, and would like to join a campaign tomorrow, applying now may guarantee it. Introduction Hello one and all. My name is Josh, but folks online call me Sol. I'm 25 from the UK, and I'm looking for a new group for my next upcoming campaign! I'm definitely excited to bring a few more new fresh faces into my world. I currently run one other group of six experienced players on Sundays, which I've been running for close to two years. I've never missed a session (even Christmas week) , and I'm always willing to adjust my session times for my players. I've been running D&D campaigns for several years now, running a variety of campaigns, for which most of them have ended after a number of years of play. I am known to be a keen role-player with emphasis on voice acting and getting into characters. I love writing compelling adventures, making maps, developing NPCs, and making travel and towns interesting. I have a deep love for books and film, deriving much of my inspiration for my games from Lord of the Rings, the Witcher, Game of Thrones, and the Chronicles of Conan. I also take great inspiration from Arthurian Legend and Mythos, which I find extremely interesting, so much so that I current study it professionally. More recently, I've even started making videos on YouTube doing tutorials for D&D where I talk about some of these concepts, as well as RPG Horror Stories. I am writing this post today because whilst running my current campaign is a delight, I am interested and excited in the prospect of setting up another new party with fresh, eager adventurers who want to go out and change a world. I am charging a fee of $15 per session for interested players, which seems to be more or less the base rate of experienced dungeon masters that I've seen on here. Considering that's what it would cost for a dominos pizza, I think that seems pretty fair. I've not really done paid DMing much in the past, but I've allowed for players of mine to tip me in some games which has been appreciated. With Covid, and all the other problems facing us all right now, I'm currently between jobs, and still trying to hold down a house and take care of myself and my small family, so charging my players for a great experience seems to be a difficult but necessary choice. I spend a lot of time preparing sessions for my players, so much so that I spent close to 10 hours preparing a large battle for my main group, and I also spend money on creating an exciting experience for my players, so much so that it can sometimes be a detriment to me. I use dynamic lighting, custom maps, dozens of musical tracks, and a variety of interesting books/pdfs that make playing this game far more interesting. It's worth noting that each player is expected to pay for each session a week prior to each session through Paypal or another similar service. Paying in advance allows me time to adjust my story, and make sure that the session plan is suited to those who are willing and excited to play. I tend to write story arcs for my players, so I'd hate to waste good time in a situation where a player won't be joining us. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. What time? I'm running this major group every week on Saturdays at 4PM GMT, most likely for between 3 to 5 hours. The main reason why is because I'm from the UK, and most of my applicants are European, or live in the East Coast of North-America. I'm considering setting up another party for this world if I have enough interest, and that will be set up on a day of those applicants choosing (any day bar Saturday or Sunday). If our new applicants are interested in starting a little later in the day, 6PM GMT maximum, I could probably do that without too many problems. Just let me know in your application what your availability is like and we can go from there. What would your campaign be like? I have ran a variety of campaigns in my time, and I've enjoyed running many of them. Currently for this game, I am running a new setting based in the Middle Ages, roughly 400-600 AD. The World Setting is called Heimland, and it is a large, expansive region in a world built on war, politics, and mysticism. The world is entirely mundane, meaning that the idea of magic and godly power seems ridiculous and scary to most commonfolk, but though the adventurers tend to be something more. This world is open, with a variety of biomes, including wide-open plains, deep dark forests, and even hot, scorching deserts. This world, and its story revolves around several central key plot devices, with one of them being that Men hate Elves, and vice-versa. A war in the previous age led to the deaths of tens of thousands, and the exile of many surviving elven tribes from a new conquered region, now controlled by man. Players would be thrusted into a world of petty war, politics, magic, and adventure. Magic in this world is truly wonderful, but feared by many who don't understand it. Divine Inquisitors who serve the Dragon God, Benedaeros, travel to enact his will upon those who are deemed unworthy, including spell-casters and elves, whereas many people to the East still believe in the Old Gods. Whilst the major wars have ended, many skirmishes and conflicts do take place in this land, making it the perfect breeding ground for new adventurers to take up their sword, and be remembered in history. Why should I join your game and not another on here? Whilst I'm sure there are other brilliant Dungeon Masters who are running both free and paid games on Roll20, I personally believe that depending on your playstyle and your interests, you'll find me to be a great fit. I go above and beyond for my players, helping them learn the game, write their backstories, even helping them with art (if they wish it). I have lots of simplified rules, as well as fun homebrew content that makes my games truly exciting. I create my own random encounter tables, as well as travelling merchants, special characters, and quests. I reward my players with not just gold and magical items, but with special martial attacks, cool new homebrew spells, and reputation, which allows players to gain benefits which can lead to more lucrative work and rewards which could include running your own castle, tower, temple, or another structure. The sky is the limit with me, and I'd never hinder how far you could soar. If you need anything else to persuade you, just look at the effort I've put into this post. The quality of the post tends to dictate the quality of the game, just from my experiences. I'm interested, what's next? I'm glad you've come this far into the post.
