Looking for gaming buds, complete newbie to D&D. Need help setting up.

Just as the title suggests, atm, I’m a complete and utter noob to D&D but I want to play with the OCs I have. One I’m on the cusp of polishing for the game but need help fine-tuning him. If anyone wants to game with me and doesn’t mind going through set up with me, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you (BTW if you’re in the same boat as me, feel free to make yourself known here. We can go through it together. :) )
