gif file tokens and maps would be a game changer

I'm not a programmer and I've never made mods, I have zero experience in that sort of thing. However, I do know how to make gifs and the idea of being able to upload a gif campfire, to give the scene a realistic flicker effect would be amazing in this humble little DM's opinion. I love the immersion RPG's give people and I know you can achieve that without fancy maps or even paper really. I just think if it's possible, it'd be really eye popping and immersive for my players to see gif file for things like a glowing portal or a burning building. Anyway I already love Roll20 the way it is, I just wanted to see if this addition might be something other people might like to see. -AJ

Good news, AJ, you can now do that, on Roll20 tabletop. They added that a year ago or so. Drag-drop or upload your GIF (i believe roll20 converts it, which may take minutes). Recommended to playtest the Campfire token instead / before trying a whole huge map background. There is a checkmark setting in-game, under Settings > Enable Animated Graphics, can checkmark on or off, each player can choose for themselves I think.
Omg, that's epic! I should have done more research before posting I suppose. Thanks for the help Gold. Amazing.

I'm stoked you can jazz your game table up, how you like. Take a look in Roll20 Marketplace to see what some of the creators have made/done with Animation files like GIF. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search?keywords=animated&sortby=new Enjoy.
AJ, just be careful before you go nuts buying stuff. I find that animated stuff (maps or tokens) make my games unplayable because they are so slow and/or the animated stuff just turn into solid blocks of color on the map and I have to delete them.
